Planetside 2 ApplicationHow old are you? 27 In-Game Name? r3xj Do you have Teamspeak 3 and a mic? Yes Why did you choose XoO: I really want to experience Planetside 2 to its fullest. I want to be a part of massive battles, but I do not want to be part of a mindless zerg. I want to fight with like minded individuals while following an organized strategy. I want to fight with the same people for so long that we can predict each others actions. I want to be part of a mature group and possibly develop some long-term gaming friendships. From what I have seen from XoO, you will provide all of these things, and I can't wait to be part of that. Previous Gaming Experience: I've been gaming for as long as I can remember. You name it, I've most likely played it. I played the original Planetside from launch until just before the BFRs were released. I was still living at home where the only internet access I had was dial-up, making large scale battles impossible for me to take part in. However, I still had a blast working behind enemy lines and other smaller scale missions. I eventually went off to college and was able to really experience what Planetside was all about, preferring infantry and tank roles. Additionally, I have played many other FPS games over the years, including Quake II, Goldeneye, Halo, Tribes, TF2 and Battlefield, to name a few. Beyond just FPS games, I also played WoW for a good period of time. I was part of a small, close knit group of players, and I still keep in touch with them even after having shelved WoW for good. I do not play any other MMOs currently, but I am keeping a close eye on Guild Wars 2. I played Diablo 1, 2, and most recently 3, however I have already given up on it as I was very disappointed with it. I played Starcraft extensively and have dabbled in Starcraft 2 along with several other RTS games, such as Dawn of War II. I played the original DOTA back when it was first being conceived and I participated in the LoL beta, but I have not played another MOBA since. I might try DOTA 2, but I'm not sure if I will ever be able to tolerate the communities that seem to surround those games. Finally, some less competitively oriented games that I enjoy are Civilization and similar 4x style games, good RPGs, the Total War series, etc. I really could go on and on, but I feel like I have rambled enough for now. What will you contribute to the guild? I have done my share of running guilds and such before, but that really isn't my strong suit. I prefer to be down in the trenches with the boys ready to do whatever is asked of me. I do feel like I am able to communicate well on the battlefield after playing my share of FPSs over the years as well as WoW arena. In that respect I believe I could be a squad/platoon leader, but I would also be completely comfortable just being a grunt. As for technical skills, I currently build and configure HPC Linux clusters for government laboratories, universities, etc. I am relatively new to this position and I am not sure how much this skill would contribute to the guild, but it may come in handy at some point down the line. Localization: North America Do you have a referral? - A little bit about yourself? I am an average 27 year old functional nerd. As mentioned above I build and configure Linux clusters for a living as well as anything else I get asked to do at work, which is just about everything. I live with my girlfriend of four years with our two dogs. I am originally from a very rural part of Kansas, but now live in Lawrence, KS, home of the Jayhawks (go KU!) which is about 30-45 minutes from Kansas City. I like to try to program games in my spare time, and my soon-to-be-completed degree is in Software Engineering (Computer Science). It goes without saying that I am a huge video game buff, but I also enjoy cycling, being outdoors, animals, etc. College basketball is the only sport that I am really passionate about, and if you know anything about the University of Kansas you can probably guess why. Activity level? 35-40 Do you have a high speed internet connection and a good computer? Yes Have you applied to the Planetside 2 usergroup? Yes
Welcome to the XoO community! This is a really great application, thank you for taking the time to answer these questions in detail. We have a few Kansas members, myself being one of them (Wichita area). And nice to see you're a Planetside Vet, the more the merrier in my opinion. I've PM'd you the information for our Teamspeak server, just log in and look for one of our Planetside 2 Officers, any of whom should be able to further process your application. Officers: Dullard, Fliggenman, Kazzier, Kythas, Mirr, Phoenixdog, Sokar.
