5/5, 10/10....whatever scale you wish to use.

All the actors in the movie are great. Over the last couple seasons of the borgias I have come to like Sean Harris and however small his role in this movie he played it well. Fassbender as a robot played his role superbly and it was reminiscent of Ian Holm's character the first time around but still his own. I found the pacing of the movie quite good and it kept me interested the entire time. When it was over I was left in awe of what I had just seen. I think Scott's description of this as "in the same universe but not a prequel fitting". 2 thumbs up for Idris Elba as well.

I've read a couple peoples reviews talking about stuff being implausible...... really? A movie about aliens, implausible? Never. If they wanted to make a movie to satisfy these sorts of people it would be a 10-20 minute segment consisting of landing on the planet and going out the door. 5 minutes spent realising they were in deep shit and another 5-10 getting back on their ship and taking the fuck off back to earth. Good story :eek:ook: following this ~40 minute clip people would complain nothing happened and still not be satisfied :p

I ended up seeing this in 3D and I may finally be getting used to this whole 3D thing. I found myself trying to look around characters or through windows at certain points to see what was up. I would go see this again if the g/f decides she wants to give it a shot. She ended up enjoying Alien which is all she really needs to see to understand this movie a little more... maybe. She is still getting her head wrapped around the sci fi genre and how it works.

    7 out of 10...
it is still a must see movie for sci-fi fans.

A few things that were disappointing. Ill not go into now..people have yet to see it.

    Spoiler tags good sir.

I was really hoping we were going to get to see the dialogue between David and the engineers. But I suppose they didn't want to give us any closure as Weylan didn't get any closure either

Just saw it today, I thought it was great. A must see for fans of the original Alien and Aliens, although I'd like to see a follow up movie to this one.
    I'll give it a 8/10.
Just because there were several parts of the movie I wish they would've gone into more detail with and/or left questions unanswered, but maybe those could be answered in a sequel.

    Spoilers:
-They never really explored what the black liquid was. Besides David, nobody did any testing on it, despite the obvious reasons why they should have. Which was itself pretty strange why he chose to test it on Holloway.
-Does the black liquid just transform/evolve a host into a more sinister and violent life-form? Does it inhibit evolution?
-Is the Black Liquid actually the very basic form of a life-form that is extremely adaptive and has accelerated evolution?
-Why were the Engineers in the holograms running, and away from what? And why of all places into the room full of the black liquid in the vases? If the black liquid was a weapon, what was so horrible that they chose to hide in a room full of it?
-When the Alien burst out of the engineer he was in the lifeboat of the Prometheus. So what brought the Alien to the Engineer ship in the original Alien?

Ridley Scott and Damon Lindelof told members of the press that Prometheus isn’t a prequel to Alien, so maybe they're just trying to restart the series from scratch. But damn, that's kind of disappointing.

The best I could think of with the gunk was it was just a medium for life to be created seeing as they were portraying organic beings such as ourself. Now beyond that I don't know wtf that shit was that david extracted from the glass like vile in the vase but it was different than the shit oozing from the pots that ended up all over the floor. Nobody but david knew about the stuff in the vile and if you noticed he never shared that he took one and it didn't seem that anyone noticed he did. I was wondering if exposing holloway to the shit had something to do with his conversation in private with Weyland because he did it immediately following the first time we see him speaking to weyland in the stasis pod. I think the black stuff may have been some sort of super advanced virus. A virus just infects a cell with its own DNA for the purpose of highjacking the bodies machinery to make more of itself. The virus that they found on the ship could have been some sort of virus that programs the body to create a life form instead of just more of itself. Which, would be incredibly cool but as you saw insidious as hell as at that point there is really no chance in fending off an infection.

I was and still am confused with the running towards a room full of those pods and what piled all those bodies up that the harris and the biologist ended up at. I didn't catch the name of the planet they were on in this but some people seem to think they did and the planetary designation was different. Meaning that this is not the planet that Alien took place on. As David said there was a ton of ships on the planet so it stands to reason that if shit went down there and they got stuck one may have gotten away and shit went down and crashed somewhere else.

Sounds like there may be a sequel Link. Which is not surprising after the ending but I'm curious how they would make a movie with only rapace and fassbender :/

3 movies were planned from the start..so there are 2 more in the series before it leads to the alien dude in the alien ship in the first Aliens movie.

    Not to mention this image:
Which hits that the Engineers know what the fully evolved xenomorphs look like. We know they engineered them, just like humans. So maybe humans were the prototype "weapon" the Engineers were developing.

Adult xenomorph in middle, facehugger down in the bottom left.

So I was talking to a co-worker, who is a computer engineer (so inferior to physicists), and he said that one of the engineers was Jesus and they sent him to earth. After the humans killed his water-wine making ass they were like fuck those earth fucks and then wanted to kill us, but the aliens or something else attacked them. I can't wait for the hot redhead to go kill them all.

So nobody else had a problem with the 'quarantine' procedures aboard that ship. Like seriously bitch calls for a full quarantine and they simply let them all walk on the ship spreading whatever contagions they picked up while nobody around them has any sort of protective gear on. Not to mention later when they just LEAVE her in the med bay and call that quarantine. Then after that it gets even worse. Come in to take her away and she FAKES asleep and knocks them both out, you joking me. Then there's no lockdown on the bulkheads so she just walks around the whole ship spreading god knows what the shit was coming out of her after getting the queen pod removed. For a trillion dollar expedition they have a lot to learn from the 15th century about quarantine procedures, at least in the middle ages you weren't allowed to walk around when you had the plague.

Guy who own the "pups" that map the place, who has a wrist-mounted device that shows their map, and has a radio/video link to the captain who has a 3D model of the map gets lost trying to go back out the way he came not 5min earlier - with another guy's help. WTF?
It's a very good movie with lots of logical inconsistencies

My wife is a herpetologist. She spent the whole movie griping about how bad the scientists are at science.
"Don't be a skeptic? Yes the air is breathable. That doesn't mean it's not full of harmful microbes."
"That's what I choose to believe? That's like the antithesis of the scientific method."

Poor movie. Thought it was gonna be great, but turned out to be a sucky excuse for sci-fi. Theron was pretty decent and so was the female lead scientist, but aside from that meh. The narrative should've stuck to two-three characters and just said fuck it to the rest, because the rest sucked anyway. Yea not as many people would have been killed off, but its hard to give a shit about a character dying whom you couldn't believe was a character anyway. I don't consider epic-horror-scifi characters to function like those from a slasher flick. As far as the ending goes, ideally it made sense, but there was almost no development of the story in that direction at all, it was a totally arbitrary sense of action. 4/10.

Yeah I didn't enjoy the movie at all, maybe good for a rental but was a waste of money in the theatre.
