ok heres one for you my dad bought a new hp officejet 4500 wireless printer but when he goes threw the install to set up the printer, he gets a message saying that the printer can not connect to the wireless router because the wep password is invaild but its the password he use's to connect my sisters labtop to the wireless modem. i have tried everything i know to do now im asking you folks for help.
Only thing I can think of (not knowing the specific setup you mentioned), is sometimes when you put those settings in, you can select a few different options - HEX vs Alphanumeric vs decimal; The other thing to check is the type of authentication (WEP vs WPA, etc), and the encryption strength (64 bit, 128 bit, etc).
mac address filtering may be enabled on your wireless router, this can pervent your hp printer from connecting to your wireless network during setup . temporarily disable mac address fitlering on your wireless. This is the error it is giving.
Well, you may have Mac Address filtering enabled on your router This means you have to go into the router and specifically add the mac address of the printer to your allowed list in the router. The Mac address will be listed either on a sticker on the printer or somewhere in the printer info screen.
