is it possible to overclock a dual grapics. options: 1 560m 1.5 gb overclock. or 2 560 (sli) 3gb {not overclocked} <~question is if i can overclock a dual Gpu) this is for a laptop.
I suppose there really is no point in trying to get better battery life when the max you can get is 5 minutes. lol Overclocking SLI. Hmm. Im not sure. With SLI both cards must be the exact same model at the exact same speed or the image will be out of sync, or it will make the software work harder to get them in sync and you will have more frame lag. Crossfire is different and each card can run at different speeds and be different models so I know it is possible with AMD cards. But SLI I really have no idea. If it doesnt let you do it in the Nvidia control panel then Id guess probably not. Normally there is an OC area in there that you can easily overclock from. One thing Id be concerned about though is power draw. Can the power adapter handle the higher draw from overclocking? Power consumption exponentially increases as you overclock things higher and higher and the adapter is only rated for so much draw...
thanks Sempai, this has helped me. just found out. if i get the overclocked gpu i get a 300 w power adapter and that doesn't take account for the other gpu. i would then need 2 power adapters unbelievable. i think im gona go and build a tower. and make a cloud laptop, so not the greatest just something under 2k. tower is gona be stacked tho.
Answer for EVGA is most certainly yes, other distributors probably yes, and for other distributors using third party software almost certainly yes.
