this is scorching bay near me (wellington NZ)..yesterday a pod of 6 Orcas swam in.

Everyone watching the orcas didnt notice the swimmer..till two Orcas starting getting closer and closer.
They finally got the swimmers attention, when the orca were 6m away.

Someone snapped a great pic..the guy was swimming, then running fast as he could.

Lucky for him the Orca were not really interested in eating him...he had no chance if they had wanted him

Commandant Cousteau and his team swam with Orcas, equipped with cameras and scubas a long time ago. There was no sign of aggresiveness at all.

    From wikipedia :

They are powerful sea hunters, but no one has ever been recorded killed by them.
(The California Surfer was probably mistaken for a prey, as many sharks do the same error.)

The Orcas' cousins, the dolphins, are even recorded to have saved humans from drowning.
I don't know of any other wild animal species saving a human life on purpose.

I can tell you one thing, if there was anything with a fin other than a dolphin swimming beside me, I would be swimming as fast as I could out of the water. There is no way I would be taking any kind of chance.

beleive it or not, more people die from vending machines falling on them than shark attacks! However, i feel bad for those attacked by sharks.. but if you want to shake the shit outta a 1500 lb machine and stand in front of it, then too bad really heh...

I would stay out of the water. Cussing, yeah that is one of my better traits but I would be thankful that I still had my legs :p
