List your current professions and describe how they help when raiding: Blacksmithing 450 - 2 extra JC sockets Mining 450 - Took mining as I intended on tanking but I am considering swapping to JC for the 3 Improved Gems 5. Time playing WoW and PvE progression: I started playing again in June, levelling slowly as my internship allowed. I got to 80 mid july and geared up raiding ToC mostly until Wrath came out. I have done 10/12 in icc so far between 10 & 25 man. 6. Describe your method for theorycrafting your class: I use simcraft, Kahorie's DK Sim, and Rawr to aid in min/maxing my toon. I also frequently read elitist jerks and Tankspot. 7. Occupation and living arrangements that impact raiding (family, classes, dorm, night shifts etc): I currently have no arrangements that would interfer with raid times. My current guild raids until 1230 server time which can be problematic but 11pm serwer works much better 8. Guild you are leaving and why (If you join another guild without following up here, application will be closed): I am leaving Unfair Advantage because I am the last of my old guild Offline (We merged with UA) left in the guild. As such none of the people I really enjoy raiding with are left. 9. How did you hear about us? List any friends/references within the guild: I raided on Sargeras back pre-wotlk in Azure Wrath, and XOO had a great reputation on the server back then, and currently has that same reputation now. As for friends in XOO, Xanderlock used to be one of my roommates. 10. List consumables you bring to raid: Flask of Endless Rage, Large stock of Health Pots, Large stock of Indestructible Potions (97AP for 2 or 4 mins with double pot trick). Foodwise I currently using Hearthy Rhino (arpen) my other choice is Dragonfin Filet Strength Food. 11. Any Scheduling conflicts (consider possible weekend groups for 10mans): I currently do not have any scheduling conflicts that wouldimpact weekend 10mans 12. Final comments you feel could help your application: I am a very reliable, situationally aware raider. I show up with a good attitude day in and day out, and am there to raid. I've been reading a lot of mixed things about Blood with gemming pure armor pen. Unholy will out DPS Blood almost ever fight until the ICC buff increases to 20%. The only problem with gemming pure Armor Pen is on a fight like Lich King your damage is gimped compared to an Unholy DK Gemming pure Strength. Personally I won't play Blood unless its fixed or DPS is increased. The new Unholy Spec for 3.3.3 will be (0/17/54) http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?deathknight#flc-n68QFeGyqM,qpF,11599 With your Glyphs not that its a major thing but you shouldn't use glyph of horn of winter because you will throw off other DK's that do not have that minor glyph. Instead you should use Glyph of Blood Tap. Also for Maximum Damage for Blood drop Glyph of Dark Death and use Glyph of Disease you can get more Heart Strikes in with only having to use 1 Rune to refresh diseases. I see you do not have 4 piece Tier 10 yet. What is the reason for that? The Chest has a ton of Armor Pen and you can get the hit you need from other pieces or a ring if needed. Not only that the 3% increased damage is pretty much always up. According to Team Robots Wow Sim 4pc T10 will give you a 273.4 DPS increase. I definitely would like to see some world of logs. Most after getting my 2-piece t10 all of my emblems went into saronite for my Ax. I picked up the emblem cloak next as my expertise was very low. I have picked up the hit that I was missing this past week in icc10. My next emblem purchase is going to be my t10 chest. Also regarding the glyph of disease vs. glyph of dark death, I have run both specs and rotations through both kahories, simcraft, and the teamrobot sim and right now they are simming dark death ahead of disease. I believe the reasoning behind that is that using pestilence uses a rune with absolutly no damage. With crit% getting so high, the damage from IT + Plague Strike is close to equal 1 Heart Strike. I will run these sims again when I get home tomorrow and see to make sure. I have really liked Blood since I started playing it back when Wrath came out. I swapped to unholy when ICC came out and unholy was a clear cut favourite. When I saw that I could viably stack arpen and go back to blood I was very happy. I like the mechanics (Dancing Rune Weapon, and hysteria). I also have one point in the blood tree than I can swap around for surviveability or raid utility.
Another note how come your Tauren still? Orc is by far the best for PvE with the extra 5 expertise from axes helps with gear selection a ton. When you use your dual spec unholy the extra pet damage is nice too.
I am still a Tauren because student loans, bills, and eating take priority over changing classes in WoW. I have contemplated switching to orc, but I currentl can't justify it. I am however dropping mining for JC
The closest comparison of dps between Unholy and Blood is our Saurfang fight from this week. WoL Saurfnag Skill between Danifay and myself is very close, with his gear being slightly better. My arpen was sitting around 60% this past tuesday. It is now up to 76% and hopefully I can snag Deathbringer's Will this week.
As no other spec is viable with the amount of arpen I am stacking, I am working to build my tank set up to use as my offspec. I have tanked before in ToC and am familiar with all the tanking mechanics in ICC. My gear right now however is not up to snuff. I have started picking up pieces in 10m icc now as our other tanks are fully geared
