Well, now that Starcraft 2 has been delayed, and pushed to the first half of 2010, that kinda blows *my* original prediction I had with friends and such out of the Water. Well, what I was hoping to do was help raise a little bit more attention to the game (if it even needs more) and offer a little pool to the community. The rules are simple. Everyone gets a single guess as to when the game will be released. You must pick a date to the day, not just a month (ie. January 27th). I will keep a tally of the guesses in this thread. You cannot pick a date someone else has already chosen, and yes you can blackball people's guesses (ie. following up with January 28th). After you have guessed, you *cannot* choose again. When Blizzard finally releases the date for the game, whenever that may be...The member with the closest guess will win a Free Version of Starcraft II courtesy of yours truly. So you want a free copy of one of the most anticipated RTS's of (now) 2010? Guess the date to win! EDIT: Just wanted to clear this up too...You can be over the date. Say with my guess of April 27th...If it came out on the 28th and I was still the closest (Next date was say...April 30th) I would win. So you can guess earlier, as long as you are the closest. And if I win, I will randomly give away a free copy to one of the participants in the pool Official Guesses (By Date) - 16 Members Aral - February 7th FriendlyFire - February 12th Xamiazi - February 15th Kyoji - February 22nd TheEPIC - March 9th Zarash - March 28th T0aster - March 30th Inept Noob - March 31st Foxy - April 1st Phoenixdog - April 27th TheCox - May 19th Blackwolf99 - May 24th No_Smoking - May 27th Thogun - June 8th Rubius - July 20th Klocknov - November 25th
Gamestop says their selling the strategy guide for the game on 10/26/09, if their selling the strategy guide that early then it means the game must be coming out around that same timeframe http://www.gamestop.com/browse/sear...word&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntt=starcraft 2
Is that your guess? Because I'm more incliuned to believe Blizzard Today we announced that StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty will not be ready for release by the end of 2009. Over the past couple of weeks, it has become clear that it will take longer than expected to prepare the new Battle.net for the launch of the game. The upgraded Battle.net is an integral part of the StarCraft II experience and will be an essential part of all of our games moving forward. This extra development time will be critical to help us realize our vision for the service. Our mission is to develop games that deliver an epic entertainment experience. As part of that commitment, we will always take as much time as needed to ensure that our games and services meet the expectations of our players and the standard for quality that we set for ourselves as developers. As we work to make Battle.net the premier online gaming destination, we’ll also continue to polish and refine StarCraft II, and we look forward to delivering a real-time strategy gaming experience worthy of the series’ legacy in the first half of 2010. We will share more details about the beta, Battle.net, and StarCraft II’s launch in the future. Keep an eye on the official website at http://www.starcraft2.com for updates, and as always, thank you for your continued enthusiasm and support for StarCraft II and all of Blizzard Entertainment’s games.
I'm going to say March 31 2010. Starcraft was released on the same day in 1998. I think I still have my Starcraft Beta CD around here somewhere...
Gamestop is notorious for implying or making up release dates to generate more pre-sales. People who pay money a year before a game comes out are idiots.
