Guild Wars 2 ApplicationHow old are you? 26 In-Game Name? NME or Novmiech if possible Do you have Teamspeak 3 and a mic? Yes What is your prefered playstyle? Both What kinds of activities are you interested in? I am actually very excited for everything in Guild Wars 2. My primary focus will remain WvW and structured PvP but the more free-form "high difficulty / small size" exploration mode dungeons over traditional large size scripted raids have my full attention as well. Previous Gaming Experience: I have been gaming since I got my Sega Genesis - but relevant info would be: High Tier CS 1.6 player - Participate and won cash tourney at local Lan bars. Mid Tier Team Fortress Classic player - long term member and admin on invade-defend.com - participate in the ADL (attack defend league) tournaments. World of Warcraft - Raided everything from ZG to Naxx 40, was on an extended business trip for all of BC, Raided everything in WotLK in hardmode focused guilds, Sever First *Exploit Free* OS253D, T9 Tribute to Insanity on Farm, T10+ Best Geared Feral on server. Come Cata I lost almost all taste for the game did some T11 Hardmodes but ultimately gave up and focused on casual PvP where right before quitting I hit a personal best of 2385 on my DK in a trade 3's chat pick up group. Why did you choose XoO: I remember XoO from Planetside - I played against you and I always loved your PvP videos showing a great outfit with solid organization. It is too bad you played as VS scum (and why I am holding off on my PS2 app lol! NC or nothin!) Why do you think you'll be a good fit? I think of myself as a very self motivated achiever - I am the type of guy who would no joke find himself obsessing over some kind of gear optimization in my head so much that I would be unable to sleep - I would get out of bed in the middle of the night, fire up the computer and start doing my testing right then and there. I have never needed someone to yell at me to learn my class, learn a fight or be prepared. I have always gone above and beyond expectations on my own volition. I'm not trying to impress anyone, and I am not afraid of a reprimand for being unfit - I just want to succeed and be the best I can for myself. I think it's crazy that I find myself in the minority thinking but better for me to stand out from the crowd I suppose. What will you contribute to the guild? I think what made me a quality wow player, but what is really going to set me apart in Guild Wars 2 is that along with being self motivated comes being self management, and self discipline. I am extremely situationaly aware - I have never needed someone to tell me to get out of a fire or a void zone, I have never needed someone to tell me to stop DPS for threat of aggro. When the proverbial shit hit the fan I never needed someone to tell me to go bear/blood and emergency tank, battle res a bad, innervate a healer. I saw what was going on - knew what had to be done, and did what I could best to handle the situation - all without needing to be baby sat. Heck I LOVED dedicated air phases where as a melee feral I couldn't do much because I would go out of my way to max my ranged dps while also maxing my heals or decurses - I usually took more pride in seeing that I was the best non-healer-healer than seeing I was the top dps - because even if no one else noticed it I knew I was doing every single thing I could to make the group succeed. This skill set - which I honestly believe is inherent and cannot be trained/learned will be absolutely invaluable in Guild Wars 2 where every player needs to be fully self sufficient, and yet at the same time being fully self sufficient is not enough - you will have to rely to aiding your teammates and count on them aiding you. Localization: NA Do you have a referral? - A little bit about yourself? I am a 26 year old, white, male living in the greater Los Angeles area. I am a prior military, full time student,I work part time when I can and have a full time + over time girlfriend. All 3 of these I will gladly prioritize over any guild anyday. Might not like to hear it on an application but IRL> Dragon Slaying. Period. My best feature is Integrity - I have an inner drive to do whats right and do what I know is best, I won't make an effort to deceive others or myself. My worst feature is Tact (or lack thereof) - I am an innately hyper aggressive person. That coupled with my high integrity lends me to unapologeticly say things that may offend certain people. Don't take that as spiteful basing - I don't fly off the handle when it is not my place, in fact I am usually the least talkative/chatty type in the guild, but if I am in the right to say something I will say it with 100% raw truth be it good or bad. I enjoy casual, fun carefree games, to talk @#$% on vent and smoke and joke. I enjoy putting on my game face for bleeding edge precision top tier competition. I HATE when someone from one of those groups accidently finds themselves in the opposite. Taking the fun out of gaming or dragging down the group with their halfheartedness. I very much have a "switch" for these sort of things - I like people who do also. I enjoy melee classes VASTLY more than ranged *A note on activity level* Outside of School/Work/Girlfriend/Family/ and misc IRL obligations gaming is my primary hobby and time killer. I have a full plate and gaming will always take a back seat to it however if I have any time to spare at all - it will be in game. My activity level will be hard to judge and will frankly fluctuate quite a bit. If I have a hectic week I might not be on for a couple days - if I'm free with no homework or job work and my girl is busy I will probably have my butt in this chair for 12 hours straight. That said if I say I will be on at a specific date and time you should count on me being there - I made myself free so that I could be there, and even a promise to online people is still a promise. Activity level? 16hrs / wk Do you have a high speed internet connection and a good computer? Yes Have you applied to the GW2 usergroup? Yes
I like this guy's attitude. He's direct and honest, and a military man. I work with vets and active duty military on a regular basis, and there is an element of character that the majority of these folks are possessed of that is uncommon in the general public. It is honest and direct and unapologetic for the truth. The fact that Novimech speaks to this attribute in the application tells me that he is most likely one of these quality individuals. As much as you can tell from a written ap anyway, this is a guy that I'd team up with in a heartbeat. What branch are you serving in Novimech? You say 'prior military full time student,' does that mean you graduated from OTS?
No, let me clarify. I am prior military - I did my 5 years as an Army Infantry Scout. I have since left and am now using my GI-Bill as a full time student and am wrapping up my criminal justice degree. I work part time construction whenever there is a job that comes up. It's hard getting a career nowadays in this economy, even with a degree getting into a Police or Govt. law enforcement agency is tough. I may end up going back to the Army - which I would love, but everyone else -namely my girl - would be strongly against. Time will tell how that one pans out. But I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Right now - Guild Wars =P
I dunno... can't be splitting loyalties. It's XoO or bust. Ha. aha. HA. HAAAA. *cough* Yeah, shoot me a PM so we can set up a good time for an interview.
PM's sent to you are not showing up in my sent folder - it may be overkill but for redundancy's sake: anytime after 2PM pacific on Weds, and 4PM pacific on Thurs will be perfect. I will be out of town for the weekend, so if not then it will have to wait until next week. GL HF, Nov
