http://www.industrygamers.com/news/microsoft-hiring-engineers-for-next-xbox Microsoft posted job listings on Linked.in saying they were looking for graphics/audio architects for next generation console architectures.
The consoles are lasting forever now it seems. I'm surprised they don't make a new one more often. People would buy it wouldn't they if lets say the new generation was coming out now instead of 5 years from now?
The rumour is...new console announcement most likely next year's E3, and a release a year later. The new console technology has been looked at more throughly the last couple years. Kinect is simply a way to keep the console alive in its lifespan for a few more years. But lets be honest...You can see the limitations of the technology for all three big consoles. They need *something* in the next few years. And this is definitely the first step. Microsoft would be smart to at least hint something at E3 this year..But I wouldn't expect anything solid for another year at least
I highly doubt any of the big three will be going 100% 3D with the next consoles. I'm sure they will support it, but until 3D becomes standard, they'd be stupid to go that route. A smart move would to make every game support full 3D support (much like Killzone 3) but have it also run 2D and in regular high def. But while we're on the topic of future console(s), you have to think...With how TV's are now..gaming itself has almost run its course in terms of display. Sure, picture can get sharper, graphics more realistic, screens larger...But then what? 3D can grant gaming a completely new lease on life. That gives me an idea....
Console developers don't want to release new consoles because they lose money on each one they sell. So if they can stretch out the life span they will. More money for them
Life is good I suppose but eventually people want something new a fresh. A "slim" version of a console can only go so far.
I agree, i fricken hate buying new TV and wearing glasses just to enjoy a video game.....3D is a complete utter money scam thats why i try to avoid it in theaters as much as possible. Screw 3D how about upping resolutions to a more crystal clear picture......wont happen because it seems they are going to stick with 1080p for a long time.
im talking single monitor res, seems 1080p looks to be the max for TV's at this point now they are just going to keep trying to push 3-D for the sake of money
AMD has already been developing the graphics chip for the next XBox console for some time now AFAIK (contract was handed out quite a while ago), so this is either for the console after this next one, or possibly for a mobile device like Senrai said.
