Original Text Here If the research for these bodes well and the batteries can produce enough charge to power a standard electronic... "And its performance doesn't appear to be nearly as sensitive to temperature as existing battery technology. The material worked nicely at 100°C, and showed a gradual, linear decline to -100°C; standard lithium batteries tend to drop off, performance wise, a bit below freezing. " This would be awesome for something like the standard cell phone that can be exposed from anywhere in that range on a given range. From being in your sweaty pocket, your overheated/freezing car, to the other wide varieties of climates, it would be great to extend the battery life of my phone... I dunno about you lol. "The new material uses lithium as its charge carrier, but embeds it in a crystal lattice made of germanium, phosphorus, and sulfur (the chemical formula is Li10GeP2S12. The authors have determined its crystal structure, which contains an ordered array of components like GeS4, PS4, and LiS6. This array creates a series of channels that contain individual lithium and sulfur ions, which are apparently mobile. " Long story short less lithium use = less money involved in spending on these batteries...maybe a potential decrease in how much you shell out for pocket electronics.
DO they still explode when charged to quickly, get too much voltage, or get too wet? Cause if not, then this battery is full of fail. I like things that go boom.
You're telling me? -.- I've got a hacked iPhone, with some tricks to extend the battery life, and even then, it sits on the computer charger at work 90% of the time I'm there and at home.. Also, for the record..iPhone just sucks all the way around.. at least you have a Droid lol...
You prolly have a 3gs or lower as the 4 is just fine. It does exactly what is needed and stays charged all day. However if you expect any portable device to work with heavy use all day long, that is yeara away. Apple has never been a company for a power user. Android is the hacking phone, by far. The new polish published hack that allows an android phone to hack into the facebook app and control the phone is plan scary. Regardless any new battery tech is welcome. I know mit has these carbon nano tube batteries that fully charge in 5 minutes however the capacity ia still an issue.
Oooh sounds good. I need a new phone battery. I hardly ever use my phone and only had it for a year and the battery is already dying. >.<
