I'd honestly go ahead and spend your money on an i7-920 or a 930, since both of those are similar prices then that 860. Last time I checked the 920's were around $280.

    i7-920: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115202&cm_re=i7-920-_-19-115-202-_-Product

    i7-930: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115225&cm_re=i7-930-_-19-115-225-_-Product

I got my 930 for 199.99$ at Microcenter, so I really got a good deal, but if you don't have one near you (and I'm not sure if they are still selling them for that price) then I'd go ahead and upgrade to the 1366 platform.

Probably have to splurge a little more on the mobo (maybe not though, the 1366 ASRock got decent reviews).

Only reason i say this is because, its a similar price b/t the 1156 and the 1366, go ahead and spend just a little more (or in this case, somewhat the same) for the longevity of the 1366 platform because the hexcore's can drop into the 1366, but not the 1156. Also, only other change you'd probably have to do is upgrade to a DDR3 triple channel kit, seeing as most of the x58 boards only support triple channel. Although - you could go dual channel on them, but I wouldn't really suggest it seeing as you could run into problems (not likely, but more likely than just running triple channel in a triple chan. mobo).

Either way, that's my 2 cents. If you are sold on the 1156 platform then I think everything looks good (I'm at work so i can't really look at it in detail). Also - good luck on your 480 gettin' into stock soon as well ;]

because benchmark wise it makes no difference having that 6 core proc

with intels hyper boost tech the 930 / 860 will be just as good as that 6 core just sayin

also there is NOTHING wrong with an 860

I am rocking one right now

here is the deal coming from me who does this shit all day now ...

1156 if your an average gamer and never do video / any editing
1366 if you wanna have the ability to upgrade to a 6 core proc (waste right now)

Dual chan memory is more then enough for any video game
Trip chan is good for encoding and editing stuff

I am a big fan of upgrading everything at once ... except ram or video cards ... i will always buy a motherboard and CPU together but thats just me ... also if your in the NY area come to micro center and visit me in my department ... ill get ya the proc for 200 :) and we have a few 480 / 470's in stock

to sum up its a real good build looks identical to mine

i can run BFBC2 with a 9800GTX+ superclocked on max settings so youll be fine with that rig for some time to come :)

    Build #2:
    http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=9364709

    EDIT:
Apparently it doesn't show the notes I added to you guys so...

    Memory and GPU:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.395038

    Total: $1206.93

My main concern with this though is I don't really think many things support HexaCore CPUs and I'll end up gimped although I can't find any info about it and if that were true then surely it would be a big part of the hardware debates. Both computers come to about the same price this one is $50 less but thats because of the combo which could easily be put into the other system also.

And.... 1366 build(all combos in an attempt to keep the price as low as possible):

    GPU and Mobo:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.384477

    CPU and Memory:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.386013

    Case and PSU:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.383779

    Total: $1469.94

Now... I need to pick one lol I've now read everything all of you have had to say and built new systems around it. :p This system by far has to most upgradability. I'm not really all that sure about this one... it costs more and I'll be able to upgrade to a HexaCore intel CPU which will most likely run better than the 1090T but it also costs more now and will cost more then. TBH I'm not really sure this build is worth the extra money.
