Neverwinter Main Site Neverwinter Wiki Neverwinter Gateway Server: DRAGON Start Dates: Everyone Else: April 30th Current Players: Ryld Baenre: @xsgttempestx Noollab: @noollab decoyninja: @Renkyu Zilva: @Nelleil Arimil: @arturiia EpyonNext: @epyonnext83 Valindria: @Valindrius PW says the goal is to merge all the shards into one soon after launch. Choosing servers is a crap shoot generally ( I'm looking at you GW2 ). If we want to play together we will all need to be on the same shard. Don't have a choice about that. You CAN have different chars on different shards. So it is possible to have 3 characters and one on each shard. Wiki says drow will likely not be available until 60 days after launch I wonder if that is going to impact the hero of the north people or if it was done to distinguish them more from everyone else since I'm pretty sure they will all be playing drow. Can we get all the other Neverwinter threads closed?
Start Date: Apr 25th (yeah they got me. You don't buy games for a while, get a Tax Refund and start thinking you are rich) IGN: @Renkyu Timezone: CST but that never usually impacts my playtimes. Trickster Rogue Personally my main won't be a Drow, I'm thinking Half-Orc for the Rogue. Yes you are correct on the drow restriction, non-heroes wait for approx 60 days and the Hero pack race is a separate Drow race in the character creater which I guess helps them keep the unlocks straight. I will be rolling Mindflayer personally. To me more RPers will mean more foundry content to see, though I want to believe that stuff is uploaded cross server. I don't expect there to be 3 servers for long personally. They might be over-estimating the game's popularity, but we shall see.
so we just rolling on whatever decoyninja? if there is a merge choosing does seem moot. Ill just roll on 3..see how the pop is at my time...gmt+12 6pm on...split between my ps2 time
I'll have to see how server latency works for me, sinceiI'll be playing from Europe. Hopefully it won't be too bad, as MMOs are often a bit more forgiving in that sense. After that, I don't care which shard we're going for, but I agree that picking the most popular one would be unwise and leave us prone to login issues. As for what class I'll be playing, I've been in the mood for tanking lately, so I am strongly considering the Warrior Guardian or whatever its name was. Either that, or a caster/healer type.
I closed the other threads and directed people that happen across them to this thread, older threads I simply closed (to prevent them from being pushed to front page again).
I really wish I had 60 bucks to get the 3-day head start, but I'm flat broke this month. And reading up on it, I'm definitely rolling Guardian Fighter.
I really want to get the 200$ pack but can't justify it to myself :/ I mean, Armored Spider?? Frakkin awesome! I happen to really like drow society. Perhaps not if I actually lived in it but I'm sure I would be of similar ilk to Dantrag so it might not be so bad. By 12 pm tonight I will post what the server selection will be. Looks like we will be trying for dragon as is for those that wish to play together until shards are merged..... Thanks for closing the other threads Arimil
I might give this game a try. I don't care what server we are on but will create on whatever is decided. I'm going to see if my RL Friends are interested in trying it.
Oops! 60 bucks somehow managed to escape me and throw themselves at the Guardian pack. The outrage!...right?...right? So it seems I'll be playing on the 27th.
Hmm not sure if i should go for 60$ pack, cause i was not able to play in any of the betas=\ You guys think NWO is worth it?
I personally can't answer that for anyone really. Youtube would be a better place to check to watch footage and see how the gameplay works. I know both packs are worth it cost-wise for what they contain if you were going to get half the items within separately (meaning you liked the game and was already gonna spend the money). That is more what they are for I feel. If you were unsure you will like it, then you might have to check the game out. They were talking about changing the packs though after the 30th so they might not be the value they were. Value-wise, the $60 pack is the strongest as an equivalent mount in game for every character you make would be about $40 on the Zen shop. If you want to buy a companion with Zen you would spend ~$20, 35 per character for the more epic ones like the wolf is (and the pack companions are the only account-wide companions so it a better value the more characters you create). 600,000 Astral Diamonds is a good amount to start you off and can also buy things like companions or whatever. The exchange from diamonds to zen isn't best right now, it can fluctuate from 50-500AD per Zen (100z=$1.00). The 600,000AD is worth about $12, but that is largely because we are only 1 day in and everyone playing has 2,000,000AD to burn (as they are all Heroes). All that really means is you won't be transferring AD to zen for a while until that price improves and anyone buying straight Zen to convert to AD has a lot of people who will give them the maximum amount.
I personally had a lot of fun during the one weekend I got to play, and I've always been a huge fan of the Neverwinter universe. On top of that, the Foundry idea just appeals to me. One of the things I loved about NWN and NWN2 was the player-made content. And while I imagine the Foundry is rather limited to begin with, I imagine it's a great way for them to easily allow for the creation of more advanced content later on -- And content (or lack there-of) has ALWAYS been the number one reason for me to quit a game early. That said, I want to make it clear that you shouldn't expect a deep RPG along the lines of the old games based on DnD. It's very simplified and made easy to understand for the casual player (it's not an updated version of DnD:Online for example), and I cannot vouch for its long-term playability, as I only got to around level 15 in the beta. Nevertheless, I'm definitely going to fool around in it, but if you're not certain at all, you could just wait till the Open Beta starts on April 30. :>
I'll be playing it thought not founding. I am viewing it more as a intermediate game until something more juicy comes out, and also as a distraction from the backlog of games I am slowly slogging through. Sadly, a number of my close friends decided to roll another shard so I may have to wait to play with Xoobies until the merge.
You can roll your secondary with XoO on Dragon if you wish and play your primary with RL friends. Your account isn't bound to one shard. It's on a per character basis.
