Need to save for my (hopefully) next computer. The EVGA SR3 and dual Sandy-Bridge EP processors. I dont really care about all the PCI-E, I just want it because it will allow me to connect all my hard drives without adding in RAID cards, give me a ton of processing power for Minecraft server, and let me have LOTS of memory :) Ive always had good memories of my old dual processor systems.

I love eVGA (obviously) and the SR and classified products.

I didn't read the wall-o'-text but is that supposed to be a server board? It looks like one.

Nope, its an enthusiast desktop board :) Hopefully this means it can overclock the processors too.

I think I skipped it in the text (and I haven't read the article yet), but why does 1 socket have 8 mem. slots and the other only 4? I know its a different chipset (obviously) and requirements but the SR-2 each socket had the same amount? Maybe they are allocating it differently with this x79 board.

Edit: Nevermind, it helps to research first before posting.. normally. ;)
