I am going to finish the Enderverse this week and need some more suggestions for audio books to buy to listen to while driving a bajillion miles a month.

I just don't want anything political or biographical.

I am putting in about 60 hours of windshield time a week now so series are definitely an option.

If anyone knows of a good "learn a language audio style" that'd be nice too.

    Thanks!

If you have any interest in Guild Wars 2 there's a book coming out shortly that bridges the gap between the stories of GW1 and GW2.

I don't listen to audio books but I hear good things about The Wheel Of Time series in audio book. Also David Weber's stuff is supposed to be done pretty well in audio book as well if you like sci fi. I would start with the Honor Harrington series http://davidweber.net/faqs/index/series:3 if your looking for something long. actually most of the Baen published stuff that gets audio books done is supposed to be good. But like I said I don't listen to audio books so I couldn't tell you first hand.

-Dresden Files Audio Books by Jim Butcher, James Marsters is a great reader
-The Nightside Series by Simon R. Green, Good if slightly hokey Hard Boil Supernatural Detective Novels
-Anything Christopher Moore, very funny author who's works are great for listening to... or as one of his characters "Pocket would say, "Righteous Fuckery Abound!".
-Soon I Will Be Invincible by Austin Grossman is a great take of the modern superhero from the view point of the super villain, very amusing.
-Snow Crash and Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson are great techno-philosophical ones, good repeat listens as well.
-The Marla Mason series is pretty good too by T.A. Pratt but since his publishing deal ended at the 4th book with a huge cliff hanger (he's self publishing books 5 and 6 but not in audio format) I'm not sure how strongly I can reccomend those.
-The Johnnes Cabal series is amusing and good, I've only listened to the first one thus far but I liked it, by Johnathan L. Howard.

That should be a good start for you.

Forgot all about the Drenden Files, great reads hear good things about the audio books as well.

Before you get in to Simon R. Green though you should know that he has no rules in his books any thing goes some people find it annoying. I don't :p . Death Stalker series is pure insanity don't know if it's in audio book though.

Agreed on the Simon R. Green books, he has a tendency to pull shit out of his ass as far as getting the main character out of a scrape but as long as that doesn't bother you... or his very cheesy mentioning of the main characters "Third-eye, my private eye" or how that's just how things are in "The Nightside" then you'll be fine as the main story thread's pretty decent. Go Dresden first, then Nightside if you crave more while Jim Butcher works on more for us.

Would definitely agree, space opera in the style of 1600's british navy is ftw!!

Read about 5 of the first of the series, all gripping stuff.

Any of the early david/lee eddings multi series, but more aimed at the younger readers.

Feists books are epic, though can be very longwinded.

Discworld if you want a chuckle, however it is a very droll british style of humour, some of the references can be oblique for people outside the uk, or under a certain age.

Terry Goodkind isnt too bad (again chain stories), or failing that Terry Brooks has quite a few good chain stories which are similar to LOTR.

Not sure what this stuff would be like on audio books, however I do think that pratchett has a biggish name UK comedic star do a lot of the narations/voices.

The bean trilogy (enders shadow) I feel is actually better than the ender series.

For geeky stuff, Harry Harrison has done some funny books, but he did 1 about AI which is a very good read, even if the books is very slow paced for the first 70%

Ahhh Harry Harrison's stuff is good, I've dug into the Stainless Steel Rat and Bill the Galactic Hero, both of which are great books... wonder if either made it to audio format...

Bill is space opera of the /headinhandsgroan variety, but its brilliant mindless fun.

Stainless steel I never really overliked, but then you cant like everything you have ever read, as it would get boring.

If you want something really different, the hammer and the cross trilogy is set around 10th century england during the viking raids, and is based around norse mythology to some degree.

I don't know too much about it, but I hear the Twilight series is "pretty good".

But seriously, you should get your hands on some Oscar Wilde. He may be a fruit, but hell if it doesn't make his stories that much more entertaining. The Picture of Dorian Gray is a personal favorite of mine. Not much in the series department but it's still good stuff.

Okay, I need some more suggestions. Fantasy would be preferred. I just finished the first 3 books of Eragon, and I really enjoyed those.

I'm grabbing the first book of Percy Jackson, simply because Amazon did the "if you liked this you may like that" jazz. So if anyone thinks it's terribad let me know before I queue up the next 3, and can save myself a couple bucks.
