a Mic i can use on pc for recording songs and stuff. Yeh im a singer, well actually used to be and trying to get back into it. Sang in choir and various small time bands that got like no exposure to the outside world. recording with my headset i have now just doesnt feel right. So if any of you have any advice about what kinda mic i should buy, i have absolutely no clue what recording stuff costs and even less about actual recording, could always just buy a good webcam with built-in mic and just utube that stuff lol (but guess that would be a last resort if proper recording shit is to expensive). thanks for reading/advice.
I hope your ready to spend more than a few dollars. Since a mic with good enough audio quality to record you singing doesn't come cheap. Top choices: Astro A40 $199 Turtle Beach HPA2 $99.95
The RIGHT WAY to do it would be to get a preamp that accepts XLR inputs from a microphone and can output either via 1/8" into your computers sound card to then record from in a program like Audacity (very nice free recording program) or via USB which you should then be able to record in Audacity as well as long as the drivers are working properly for the USB connection. The best cheap microphone (that is also built very well I might add) is the Shure SM58. The SM57 is pretty much the same thing but without the "pop filter" over the top. What you would be looking for are these: http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/Shure-SM58-Microphone?sku=270101 http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Musician's-Gear-LoZ-XLR-Microphone-Cable-?sku=361707 http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/Behringer-XENYX-1204USB-USB-Mixer?sku=485369 I know that might seem like a lot of money at first, but it is really incredibly cheap for what you get. With that mixer you will get expandability for more mics if you want to do more stuff in the future, it will sound a whole lot better than cheap consumer brand stuff, and it is built a whole lot better than any consumer brand product you will find. I was in professional audio for about 6 years before moving on to help my dad with his business where I am now training to take over the company when he retires. So I know what Im talking about. I was primarily a live sound engineer, but have also worked with pro-tools quite a bit and know a ton about microphones. My friend owns a recording studio that I helped do some stuff with and he is always trying to get me back in the studio to work for him. I have run sound for concerts with bands including: The Kry (who are friends of mine actually), Crystal Lewis, Detour 180 (one of them was my old boss for a year), Switchfoot, and many other small bands. ^^^ I think that makes me qualified to talk about these sorts of things. PS. Please dont tell anyone I know that I recommended a Behringer audio console. They are the ass-end of the professional world and no one in a professional capacity would ever use one. However for home use or someone getting in to pro stuff, they are great. If you want the cheapest way to just hold a mic and record, get this: http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/Nady-USB24M-USB-Microphone?sku=272015 but... eww... Please do it the right way
Sorry lol I was thinking he wanted a mic to use for gaming and recording songs. Guess I misread his post.
thanks, looks nice, im definatly gonna see if i can get those stuffs in The Netherlands, if that fails ill ask again :d my lips are sealed, i wont tell and when can you all expect songs? i have no idea, maybe when i feel comfotable enough to listen to my own voice without gigling
