    Hey folks,

That's a bit cryptic for a thread name but i've got some issues in MMORPGs for quite a while in terms of number of abilities to press.

I always prefered games with few abs like DCU, FF, TERA, GW2 whateva as i could click em quick n clean.

But other things like Wow, EQ1 and now Archeage pose me a problem, i can't insta click 3 freaking bars of abilities...

In my setup, the logitech mouse has 6 buttons (i had the naga before it helped in terms of # of buttons but my wrist can't take it anymore, too old i guess) and i use two thumb buttons on my G13 along with 4 extra "buttons" that are the G13 thumb joystick (up left right down), that's a total of 12 that i can shift+ for 24.

It's allright, i guess, but it doesn't cover the 3rd line (and i use CTRL for TS already) and the thumb joystick is not super accurate, sometimes it registers left instead of right.

I was wondering what setupd do u guys use ?

Would voiceattack help ? The hours required to customize it seems a little bit tedious but if it reacts super fast it might be an alternative.

    TIA

Welcome to MMO keybindings; everyone is different and no two people are the same but here are my recommendations.

    Movement: WASD
    Modifier Keys: Control, Shift
    Ability Keys: Q,E,1,2,3,4,5,6,E,R,F,T,G
TS Key: Alt (or better yet Mouse button)

Why; Control and Shift are staples for FPS because they are reachable with your pinky finger. The longest key reach is Alt+6 but by default that gives you 2x13 = 26 keybinds without a mouse.

If you need more I also have used Capslock as a modifier in the past and also Tab/~ for active buttons as well (along with the zxc row). Honestly speaking; figure out your basic rotation and put that on the most comfortable keys. Then put situational abilities on the second tier and thing you rarely use on the 3rd tier.

If you get a keyboard with macro keys along the left hand side of the keyboard you can bind the macro key closest to ctrl to some random letter or character and use that key for push to talk in Teamspeak instead, freeing up ctrl for easy ability use

Thanks guys, sorry for the late reply :( had quite some bad weeks.

That's about what i was using yeah haha, just guess i'm not too quick with my fingers. In any case, i can't really play any mmorpg anymore at the moment so it kinda solves the problem...

The only game I've really had a problem with is SWOTOR but I usually just use 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, q, e, r, f, t, g, v, c, x, z, then shift+ whatever, and of course whatever mouse buttons I have open. If I need more than that I just make them clickers and the most common ones I make big. Other than that any game that supports macros helps. I know Rift went a little crazy at times with 2 button macros for maximum DPS.

ESDF movement (S and F are strafe not turn)

    1QWARTVCX skills
    shift + 1QWARTVCX
    CTRL + 1QWARTVCX

if you need more keys then that can always bind more number keys.
if the game allows it, crtl/shift/alt + leftclick/rightclick/mb3/mb4/mb5 etc.

If dedicated (arena)pvper, unbind your walk backwards key(S or D) and bind a gapcloser/gapcreater to it.

if really into customized keybind take a look at the Starcraft keybinds customizatioin TheCore:
    http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/sc2-strategy/341878-thecore-advanced-keyboard-layout

TheCore seems to be suited mostly for RTS, but i think reading their articles might help you understand why custom keybind setups help you, and how to think about what a good custom setup is for you.
