Today we ask the question Can Mythbusters stay on the air after firing a cannonball into a crowded neighborhood?
The error pretty much falls on range control, they know the limits on what can be fired in their range and should NEVER use something that can exit the range with any sort of velocity. Even our .50 cal MGs can only be fired on a fire ranges in Canada. Anyway, people will probably try to blame them, when range control should have told them no way in hell they can fire a canon.
Yea now people are talking shit calling them unprofessional and all this crap. I swear people make huge scenes over too much shit.
uh..they shot a cannon ball thru someones house..it went thru the bedroom..out the front door..into someones Vehicle. bounced off streets and sidewalks... yea Id make a scene too..I think id slap the fuckers for shooting my house with a cannon.
Some things I guess you can't predict. I doubt they would of been allowed to shoot in the firing range if everyone, including people not affiliated with the show, that took part in the experiment didn't think it would of stopped by the safety measures they added. This seems about as random as a piece of a satellite landing on someone's car or home. I am sure they will simply pay off the families and move on assuming the show is doing well. I don't blame them, but its not my house either.
Their first accident in the 9 years of running the show.... Pretty good safety record if you ask me considering what they do! The cannon apparently suffered from muzzle lift on firing and therefore missed the backstop of a load of water barrels, took a bad bounce off a berm and then headed into town. It was only a calibration test also hence the use of a actual 15kg ball of steel instead of stone which is the myth they were investigating. However, what the hell is a neighborhood doing that close to a bomb range!?! Surely the local government should take some blame for permitting houses and stuff to be built there in the first place... To someone who isn't from the US that just seems completely wrong is just asking for trouble...
