We celebrated my best friend's birthday yesterday and I decided to bake her a cake (she's a professional chef and bakes us cakes all the time, but no one ever bakes her anything so I wanted it to be special for her, hehe). My first attempt came out shitty as I somehow misread the directions and wound up putting 1/4 cup of baking soda in it instead of the 1/2 teaspoon for each batch...which was three batches to fill the mold, so you could imagine it tasted horrible. I didn't have enough ingredients to fill the mold again, so I had to make a cake in a small pan, but I'm real happy I screwed up on the first one because the second one came out badass (for my first cake, that is). Yeah, she has a thing for Hello Kitty, so that's what that is all about. The cake itself is a chocolate cake from scratch with homemade strawberry whipped cream as the ocean (yeah, pink ocean), regular whipped cream for the crests, and chocolate strawberry whipped cream as the beach. Kinda sloppy, I'll admit, but it put a smile on her face so mission accomplished. Just wanted to share for some reason.
That's really cool that you did that - I mean it. It seems so thoughtful: "she's a professional chef and bakes us cakes all the time, but no one ever bakes her anything so I wanted it to be special for her, hehe" Looks delicious
Actually...see the guy in the background? Yeah, the picture taken before that one he decided to photobomb...with his ass. She saw it, hehe. That's her "I'm not mad and I'm smiling" face.
