    Link.

All it needs is a suitably large red button to push after someone gives the order: Commence Primary Ignition.

And a large amount of fireworks to go off overhead right after the button is pushed.

That's some awesome pictures. This is beyond going to the Moon...maybe the most important thing ever built.

Hope it don't kill us all.

Oh but it will. The US economy will rise again when all of Europe is blown to hell from a cataclysmic explosion that spirals half the world into something seeming to resemble the apocalypse.

But seriously, this could be either a revolutionary thing that changes the world for the positive or something that will haunt history books until the end of time as being the device that proved that the human race was built to self destruct.

  7. I don't think anything could really go wrong that will result in a cataclysm. On projects like these there are soooooooooooooooo many precautions, safety protocols, and fail safes that the only way that they could mess it up is if they turned off all the computers and did the experiment with their eyes close.

of course there is the micro black hole the LHC could produce which "theoretically" should be significantly harmless and disperse safely. Of course if one did show up with enough power to destroy the area/ country/ earth it would be too be far to fast to appreciate the destruction. Of course we could also look forward to living in Nazi run alternate dimension version of our planet. when we are sucked through....at least that is what SciFi has told me.

Why would they build it if they would never turn it on... So when is the scheduled date for ignition any time table out there yet. Im betting on 2012!

As long as I have a full plate of food, video games on the go, a stable career, loving friends and a considerate and beautiful girl I love then this will not effect me either way.
I say give everyone in Europe a vote, if its 51% or more then they can all take vacations during testing, yeah? :3

    From wikipedia:
This just makes the "commence primary ignition" line funnier.

http://www.lhcountdown.com/ < has a countdown, but it has been wrong before.

And now that you have all seen the pictures, ask yourself this question: If we were building a machine to open a portal to hell, what would the machine look like before it gets turned on ?

Portal to hell is about as likely as the usage of the machine steal bees from the past, that would explain the bee epidemic.

LHC stealing bees, that's a new one. All you need is a conspiracy theory to explain why and you should be able to get a following among the internet nutters.

Well you see it's quite simple, the future has a massive loss of bee population in 2012, this is caused by the experiment that is used to steal bees from the past, the repercussion being that the past no longer has many bees, which causes the population decrease enough for global warming, pollution and cell phone interference to wipe out the rest of the bees until a solution of found, the solution being the exact same thing that caused the problem.

Someone stick some junkscience explanations in that first draft and we can commence primary lulz countdown.

I'm not sure, but I do have to rate the proposition "excellent".
