Just some web browsing in my boredom brought me to this. It appears that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be known only as "Modern Warfare 2". I think that's kinda cool because the Call of Duty name is kinda wearing thin. Most importantly: The game releases on November 10th according to the press release. This trailer.
CoD is like a sports game now. There's a new one every year with a few upgrades (or downgrades in the case of WaW).
I wouldn't really say that. Since two teams develop the games, it's more like they come out every other year. Hopefully, Activision keeps Treyarch's shitty developing skills away from the Modern Warfare games.
I strongly disagree with this statement. CoD3 was absolute crap. WaW wasn't that bad. The tanks and the facts that bolts suck are the only problems with it I found (that, and the registration wasn't the best) . 3 was also by Treyarch I believe. The campaign was crap, and the multiplayer was god awful. MW2 should be good, since its by Infinity Ward again.
All I know is they better bring a lot to the table with this one. I like CoD 4 it was fun but you can already see that they are milking morons of their hard earned tax dollars by releasing the same game over and over with a different title on it. This game will be no different.
I'm wondering if you've played any of the other CoD's to say that they are all the same game. I've personally played every single cod game and they are no where near the same thing. Updated engines, graphics, guns, maps, playstyles, everything. Just because they have the same name doesn't mean they are the same game. It's like saying every fps is the same so don't bother getting one if you already have the other. CoD3 was on PC so I don't really count that one. WaW was absolutely horrible. It may be fun for some random pubbing but there's no way in hell it would be good for competition in any shape or form. It was easily the single worst one yet if not the only one I wouldn't recommend buying.
Let's face it, most likely they'll be using the same engine, have similar weapons, and new maps. The single-player will be new, but that's not what we're concerned about. The end result for us is new maps, which they can just do with CoD4. I don't know about others, but personally I'm satisfied with the current set of maps and have no desire for more. Also, I hear the reason why they dropped CoD from the title was because IW wanted strict rights to the name and Activision (the parent company) denied it, so IW left the CoD name to Treyarch (so they can run it into the ground) and decided to call their own title MW2 (which I guess Activision approved).
