Sounds like it plays a lot like Planetside. Hopefully the graphics improve from the pre-alpha screenshots here.

The website says it may be released by the end of the year. That means expect it next year =P

    1. Massive and persistent open world gameplay on continents that are 16x16km in scale and bases that are more than 2x3km in scale.
    2. Breathtaking environments with each continent featuring unique topology, different climate zones, weather patterns, dynamic time of day etc.
    3. Skill based PvP combat on foot, in vehicles or in aircrafts.
    4. Character progression with various abilities which can be learned. Build the character class that you want depending on how you play.
    5. A 100% persistent world (no instancing) with seamless space and planetary areas; all with ability to move from planetside starbases to stations in the space region above.
    6. Easily create fireteams (a.k.a guilds) with either human or NPC troops and from a few people to very large troops of varying skills and equipment.
    7. Build your own planetary base FARP and use it as your player housing for yourself or your fireteam.
    8. Buy and own your own assets (weapons, vehicles, aircrafts etc) and with your own unique weapons customizations.
    9. More player assets than you can handle, most with advanced customization (e.g. infra-red night vision rifle scopes) and attributes.
    10. Hybrid business model which caters to both F2P and premium models; both with access to in-game monetization.
    11. Endless possibilities for future expansions are other areas of Lyrius and other planets in the region are colonized and opened up via game expansions.
    12. No pointless grind. No boring crafting. No inconsequential resource collection. Just pure war on a very – very – large scale.

those graphics are more then enough if they can keep those and still have full on war ... imagine if World War II Online actually had good graphics ... people might play it :)

I dislike the aim from the top of my head view they give. They should push it off to a right/left side view. With that view my character is obstructing what I'm trying to look/aim at. However from the looks of it, you might be able to scroll in to a first person view which would change that entirely.

True. On second thought, given that this game will feature massive open-ended battles, the graphics are satisfactory.

I'm not sure if they're familiar with the metric scale but 16x16km is not "massive" unless it's a meteor headed your way.

Well if you guys ever played Far Cry 2, that one was 50 km^2 and it was still a damn big map to play in.

This better be a true FPS. If this would be 3rd person only there is no fucking way I would play it.

One thing to consider about the size of the maps is that you don't want it to end up being like ARMA where it takes you 30 minutes to get to the fight and 2 seconds to day. The sad thing is that this is not an exaggeration for AMRA thats the way the game was.

Arma II was very slow if you played on some crappy servers

I played in this community that had a war and almost 80 people on at all times

There was a zone that you had to control that was pretty big but still confined

you would drive or fly and be dropped off into the zone and the longer and more people you had the quicker it would turn ... then the next zone would unlock

this kept constant fighting inside a pretty big area but not big enough that u never see anyone

WWIIOL would be sooooo badass if they upgraded the graphics and fixed a ton of the bugs that still plague it since release
