Hey, I brought this up in a different thread, but I didn't want to derail it so I started a new thread to ask what people would like to see made into an mmorpg. Personally, I'd really like to see an mmo based on the writings of HP Lovecraft. I feel a good foundation behind one of these games is having a large world and I feel the world he presents in his Dream Cycle chain could easily translate to a massive game setting. Those unfamiliar with the Dreamlands can read a bit about them here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreamlands So, that's my thought on it. What would other people like to see made into an mmo?
I stated this in the other thread, will post it here as well.... Http://darkdaysarecoming.com I do believe is based off Lovecraft... They used to have like a shit ton of puzzles and riddles and mysteries and crap, while we were trying to solve the answers and such... It was a big buzz back in 07... And btw, it is being done by Funcom
Yeah, I've seen a little about that one. It looks interesting, but they claim that while it may have elements that seem to be inspired by Lovecraft, it isn't based off of it. Looking at some of the concept art, I feel it might as well be. Could be the closest thing I could hope to get, too.
I just want an MMO with blatantly non-elucidian geometry, just to see the noobs trying to navigate it because their intuition is simply wrong. I'm not talking about things that a merely bigger on the inside (though they could be included). I'm talking about things like a triangle ABC on a flat plain, although the angles are all 90 degrees. Or a rectangle where one side is a vastly different length to the side opposite to it, but the angles remain at 90 degrees. Especially when you have areas which allow this bit from Prey: Your walking along a corridor with several corridors branching off at 90 degrees. Then you see someone run across your path at the far end. You go to where they were and look where they went and you see them again. You walk towards them, they run off in the same direction as before. It took me a while to figure that I was looking at myself and that corridor looped back on itself while being completely straight. The best way to think of this corridor is that it was straight, but there was a portal at the end connected to a portal on the side wall. And these portals were such that you didn't notice when you stepped through. This is probably also how it was implemented in game.
I want a good zombie survival mmo where you and your friends/guild mates can build safe houses raid other peoples houses all while trying to stave off zombie attacks. Have to actually get food and other rations to survive. Could start in a NPC held city then venture out to try and build your own haven
what i would love to see: The Call of Cthulhu - not the first person shooter, but one based of the RPG. Rifts by Palladium Books- awesomest RPG I ever played! Paranoia based off the comic of the same name. Milk and Cheese (from Slave Labor Graphics) the MMO! i will also accept Johnny the Homicidal Maniac/ Squee the MMO or any game done by Jhonen Vasquez. TBC: for when i can get home and look up some of my favorite faction/non-faction books properly.
There is some zombie survival type game coming out, I can not think of the name at the moment... But it looks bad ass... I will think of the name later... EDIT: LEFT FOR DEAD is the game i am thinking of... Looks killer... http://www.l4d.com/ EDIT2: Alone in the Dark looks pretty cool too... http://www.centraldark.com/
I want a slight multiplayer/mmo version of "Madness Interactive". It would act like an FPS with some RPG elements.
Can I be Doctor Who?..and everyone else in the game be extras and badly drawn mobs?.. I'm taking apps for my female sidekick..nude photos get priority.
FYI: Left 4 Dead is due out November 4th, 2008 ***Weeeee I'm an "Unfair Advantage" **** Teaser Vid from Steam
a good anime-based MMO, none that suck ass, perhaps a Naruto one would be a good one, although I imagine it would be hard to get the scripting down for the jumping...but, it can be done...look at CoX. or perhaps anything like Darkfall. no classes please!
Yeah, I like the idea of using animes as a base for the game. There are so many that have a vast world with plenty to make an mmo off of. I think they pulled the plug on it, but there was an mmo being made of Bastard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nI2jyu7FcoU Looking at the trailer, it seemed pretty cool and the storyline in the manga screamed rpg (I believe the author was an avid D&D player). Perhaps another mmo I'd like to see from an anime would be Berserk. Late in the story you have a world with angels, demons, and warriors that's being rebuilt and destroyed all the time. Hell, I'd like to see what could be done with a Trigun mmo, honestly.
