Well, I didn't see any threads on it so I figured I'd share what I thought. This game was a lot better than I thought it would be. I didn't play Mafia I so i didn't really know what I was in for.

This is basically a GTA style game set in the 1940's and 50's working your way up in the mafia. Had a great main story, much more compelling than any GTA game imo. If you liked GTA games you should definitely check this game out.

Most reputable review sites are saying its decent but there wasn't really any need for the open world since the only thing to do in the game is to follow the story mission.

Yeah, it's true, there really is no need for the open world in this game. The main story mission was so good though. Well, I didn't buy the game so I may be biased since I didn't have to throw down 50-60 bucks to play it one time through. If you can get this game for free it's definitely worth the play. If your looking for a long lasting game, it certainly isn't that.

As someone who did shell out dough for Mafia II [damn demo gave me a false impression!] I can say I agree with Kava in that it's a pretty entertaining ride, but it's a short ride and you'll only want to go through it once because it's so restrictive and linear.
