Ok, so I've been arguing with Apple all morning about this. I'm dual booting Vista and Leopard on this laptop. I finally got WoW to work on this laptop and I've been playing on a Free Server for a little while now, but strangely enough, my backlight goes out on its own. While I'm playing, suddenly, out of no where the back light turns itself off and I have to re start to turn it back on, nothing else does this, haven't seen it happen with D2 before. Apple made me turn off the energy saver on the Apple side, but said it was a Vista issue and that Micro$oft had to take care of it. But Micro$oft won't help me unless I pay them money for tech support or do it myself online. ARGGGGHHH!!!! My two options are for your guys' help or for me to call Apple and have them make me an appointment to try and fix the computer, I have Apple care so they'll fix it for free.
On my computer, when it is unattached to the power cable it will automatically dim the screen in an attempt to conserve power. To fix this I use the function key and the up arrow key which increases the brightness. Have you looked at the settings concerning screen brightness, contrast, etd.? I'm not sure if this helps or not but good luck finding a fix for it.
Ok dude. Is the duration variable? I mean does it stay on for a few minutes one time, a few hours another time, some other duration the next time? How long has it been doing this? Days? Weeks? Is it getting worse?
well free apple support thats allways a good backup plan if u cant self fix it, you'll just be without WoW for a while
Apple won't support Windows on a Macbook and Microsoft won't support Windows on a Macbook. So you're pretty much screwed since the beginning. Should have spent your $ elsewhere instead of cleverly replacing S's. P.S. it happens in OS X as well.
Sorry, my laptop is in the shop now, it's being depot'd by them apparently. Anyways, it was always varied, but it was anywhere from within 5 minutes to 45 minutes before it'd dim itself to the point of not being able to see it. It'd do it even when it was hooked up to its cable. It only started the night before I posted that post. I took it in, they sent it in and are probably gonna wipe the whole damn drive to prove a point of saying "well, it was Windows' fault and now the problem is fixed." Which means it's gonna take me FOREVER to download WoW again. D=
