Alright, folks. Been looking around for a few months for an upgrade to my 19" Dell Widescreen LCD. (No, I don't use and never have bought a Dell, don't remember where I got it) Anyway, been looking to upgrade to a 22" LCD but running into a few problems. I'm a budget, not a low budget, but I'm not willing to spend 300+ for a monitor, lets say. Even the 200-290 range ones scare me a bit. I was wondering, mostly. Whats the best thing to look for in a monitor? I know Brand is important, as well as response time and contract ratios. Here's a few I've kinda narrowed it down to: Acer 22" 5ms / 2500:1 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009145 Decently Priced, decent reviews (a lot are dead after a while) and has decent stats. Asus 22" / 1000:1, 5ms (2ms GTG) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236050 Same thing, contrast ratio is a bit lower but its on sale (I know, I know) Samsung 22" 5ms / 10,000:1 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001278 Now I know what you are thinking, go with the Samsung, of course - I'm paying a lot more for it, so it definitely will be better, but the question is: Is it really worth paying that much more (almost 100 more) for a monitor like this? If you've got this far, thanks for reading - if you have any advice, or other suggestions, don't hesitate to post or teach me some new things about monitors. Thanks again.
The samsung is more expensive due to the built-in TV tuner and speakers. An ordinary samsung 22" will cost much less. I'd get this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001319 It's 16:9 so it's great for watching movies. Plus, a little wider aspect ratio means more room for your HUD in Aion.
Aside from 1 Benq lcd monitor, the rest of the monitors i've ever owned were samsungs. Currently i use a SyncMaster 305T which for the past year and half hasn't given me any problems and all the pixels work as they should. I would recommend Samsung over most brands.
