Currently, we have around 25 XoO members gearing up for Rift. Rift is by far one of the most polished, enjoyable and dynamic MMO's to ever get released. There is something for everyone in this game, and there is a crap ton of it. You want dynamic PVE? Rifts open up throughout the world at random times opening up invasions which must be closed before footholds take root. You want dungeon crawling PVE? As of right now there are three types of instances. Normal, Heroic, Legendary Heroic, and these aren't like other games with Heroic or Hardmodes. In Rift's Dungeons the monsters are completely different, not just harder versions of themselves. The layout of the dungeon has changed. You know the monster you saw building something you tried to come through and wreck at level 30, well guess what at level 50 it's built and there's a baddie in there waiting to kill you. You want Instanced PVP? Rift has several "Warfronts" with different game modes, teams ranging from 10 to 20 players. You have PVP and PVPVE instances, and we're not talking about killing wolves for pelts until we can summon a giant elemental or a bunch of lame AI guards standing around a Surkana. You want World PVP? Of course you do, you're in Xen! Are you having a bad day? Do you want that massive invasion of the opposing factions lands to completely destroy everything they have? Well why not head on over there and help them? You can slaughter PVE players in Open World PVP and help contribute to the invasions at the same time. You want class customization? Rift allows you to pick any of the possible 2016 class combinations. Yes, you heard me right, 2016. Do you want to play a mage that can dish out wicked DPS and still heal everyone around you? Did you realize that you truly are the best healer ever and simultaneously the best tank ever? Are you a rogue that always takes aggro and wishes you could just be the tank instead of having to rely on that chump with the shield? Well, guess what, in Rift you can. The four major roles are present in this game, Cleric, Mage, Rogue, and Warrior. And of those four you have nine subclasses, of which you get to pick three at any time. Of those 9, you get 4 specs available to you at any time. Meaning, I can go from Marksman-Ranger-Bard to Assassin-Rift Stalker-Saboteur, at a moments notice. Confusing? A bit. Awesome in practice? You better believe it! Please feel free to use any of our member's provided codes, they should all have several uses still as each is good for up to 25 uses. Still not sold check out some videos and podcasts by the pros: BFF Report Episode 52 RIFT PVP The Sanctum (Video and MP3 Podcast of all things Rift 5 Episodes so far) Last thoughts, This game is fun as hell, I haven't recommended any MMO's to my friends for quite so time. Let's face it, after the debacle that was 2009 & 2010, there haven't been any solid triple A titles for quite a while. Use a beta key, try the game out in Beta 6 this weekend, worst case is you don't like it. You're out nothing but bandwidth. Hope to see you in game this weekend.
I would try it out, but its just a weekend? Maybe ill wait until i can actually play it and live a normal life.. heh
What's this "normal life" thingy everyone is talking about? Seriously though, Rift is pretty awesome despite still being in beta - well worth checking out.
There are two more beta events scheduled, these keys will get you into both. I'd definitely suggest, trying the beta out before you buy to see if you like it. I have no doubt that you will, but why take any chances? If you love it, you won't need to reinstall the client when it hits retail.
Come Friday I don't know if i'll be able to pace myself. I'm off for a week from work and when beta is out I'll probably wont leave my place. Just kidding I'm sure I'll be able to control myself
I remember some of you guys from aion. I finally came back from Doha so ill be joining you (hopefully) this weekend. Already got my key set. What realm/server/side you guys playing on? cu arround
This beta event starts Friday, Feb. 4, 2011 at 10:00 AM PST (18:00 GMT) through 10:00 AM PST (18:00 GMT) on Monday, Feb. 7, 2011. I am going to be trying to get an organized party together for those who are starting at level 1. I've played 1-20 on Guardian (the faction we've been playing for beta) and can guide us through it somewhat efficiently. Here's that post: click here
