I started to download some more brushes and combined them with the image effects style that I have been trying to improve lately. still need more. if anyone has some good links to download some good brushes let me know.
I'm not going to butt in much and critique...but I do like this one better. It would be cool if it seemed to be coming out of all the pretty background. You are pretty good with the brushes.
This kind of sparks the idea for a viral ad campaign, just start spitting out logo adds all over the internets not really saying anything, just having the logo and our URL... it's either very smart or very stupid but I can't decide which. Thoughts?
I like the 2nd one! I dont like the crooked one or the one that looks gray. Im not sure what we are going to use it for... maybe RL postings?
i like the 2nd one the most as well as far as having the add everywhere it works called the meer effect and it states that the more you see something the more comfortable you are with it. like the head-on commercial or the goldburg they are annoying as hell but fuck i know that phone number better than my home number
I was thinking of using it as a silent ad campaign, but when i actually did use it I decided to add some actual text below it. You can always ad a "coming soon" kinda thing for games we will soon be playing or have interest. Problem is I have no idea which games out of the many we will be playing, Mortal Online, Darkfall, Champions Online, Stargate Online, etc...
Can you have the join now die later and the site and maybe in smaller simple text put some of the games we play. Like the bottom of the stuff from this thread http://www.xoohq.com/forums/showthread.php?p=22753 Oh and this would be great for the poster that people wanted to post around their cities. Any thoughts about that old idea?
That is the advertising pitch that they used for the movie Cloverfield, and it did very, VERY well in the box office. However, that was a movie and not a community, so it would only be able to be advertized in gaming communities and such, otherwise we'd just be labelled as some 'nerdy gaming community' by people who dont take a second glance at the site... could result in some bad rep. EDIT: I think it would be absolutely awesome if we could get some of these images background sized... I am currently using the last one as my background, but its a bit pixelly (or however you'd say it)
i think the viral thing is interesting and who cares if they think we are nerds, if they understand the sight when they come then they dont play one of the games. as far as bad rep goes i think we would get that from putting the logo out there all over the place as far as the text goes is "Join Now or Die Later" is that a good saying? i guess its good but if feels like it convays the message "omg everyone join doesnt matter how good you are!!" i dont think that is the message that should be sent, then agin it is kinda hardcore "we kick everyones ass and if your not with us your going to be slaughtered."
Holy shit that's sexy. Ditto what Brown said--I'd love to make that my background, if you've got the time and inclination to make a couple of background-sized ones (I've got 1900x1200 at home and um...I don't remember on my laptop. LOL). I've been using the ones Isurus did for quite some time and a change would be good. (Speaking of viral advertising, I've had my old XoO background up, projected on a big screen in front of several hundred people at a couple of professional conventions. Mwah ha ha!) Also, I'd honestly love to have a print-quality version of this one but with the "Join now or die later" text like the first one. I have a bunch of gaming posters and stuff up in my "home office" and it would be wicked to be able to put up even an 8 1/2" x 11" of that mixed in with all my other stuff.
