Jimi Hendrix joins Guitar Hero World Tour Activision today (officially) scored a major player for Team Guitar Hero (take that Rock Band!), landing Jimi Hendrix, who will make his posthumous "video game debut" in Guitar Hero World Tour. Hendrix will feature as a playable character in the game, and two master tracks from the fire-casting rock star will ship on the game disc: * "Purple Haze (Live)" (recorded in 1969 at the San Diego Sports Arena) * "The Wind Cries Mary" Additionally, Activision has announced plans to release more, unnamed Hendrix tracks as downloadable content. Seeing as how Rolling Stone has named Hendrix the "Greatest Guitarist Evar," it's about time we're able to honor his ineffable talent with five multi-colored buttons. As of right now I'd still bank my money on Rock Band 2 > GHWT. RB2 should pump out more DLC then GHWT, which should be a huge deciding factor. It does suck that both companies are trying so hard to attain exclusive rights to certain artist/songs. Pretty awesome to see jimmy songs make it onto either game though.
I love the idea of guitar hero spreading love for playing instruments. I hate the fact that people play it and then then never stop playing it, never feeling the "need" to play a real instrument. Unfortunately, the more popular route tends to be the latter.
I started playing guitar this Jan. Freaking love it! I can play a few songs now, when I first started I thought I'd never be able to do anything lol, but its true, just practice practice practice!
