Just saw Iron Man 2. Although most sequels tend to lose alot of their original flare, I thought that this one still did a good job with the Iron Man story. Not really that surprising since Favreau did a great job with casting and overall following of Iron Man's origin in the first film. Some people left the theater saying that the movie was slow to progress and that it lacked action. If this was the first movie, then I would agree, but I went into it knowing that it is just a stepping stone in the overall build-up to the Avengers movie. If you don't have a problem just watching a movie for entertainment, then I would say by all means watch it. It still does a really good job of establishing key characters like War Machine, but I think it slacked a bit when it came to explaining Whiplash (Mickey Rourke's character). The action scenes were still great but the final battle left a little to be desired. Still, if you have been enjoying the comic book movies these past couple of years, then you still gotta see this one. You won't be disappointed, but this isn't movie of the year calibur by any means either. Remember....stepping stone to a bigger wonder...just a filler. Oh, and stay through the credits. Something important to see there. I'll talk more about it after more people have seen it.
Just saw it. 3/5 Overall it was more of the usual 2nd in the line so it is expected to have more character development. Sadly whiplash was terrible and a few parts of the movie with him were a bit off but meh. Lots of eye candy but battles were more of chase scenes than fighting and when the climax happened it was lame and short lived(kyoji's mom tells me this all the time). Added some nice backstory to stark and the whole iron man/avengers(captains shield) lead in. Don Cheadle is the best parts of the movie. Final opinion is that its worth watching in the theatre. Though I'd see it before Robin Hood comes out because that will def be worth seeing over this. Of course if theres enough blood in it that is, lets hope they don't King Aurthur that shit...
I saw it this weekend, I agree that it lacks action and the main villan was pretty weak but it revealed a decent amount of story and introduced a new character (The War Machine). I expect there to be an Iron Man 3 since the guy with the eye patch said that he still needed to grow more as a person before he joined their league. Cant wait to see the other superhero movies that join this famous league. Anyone know the list? Edit: Found a List http://marvel.wikia.com/List_of_Avengers_members The other founding members sound pretty dumb.. The Wasp?, Thor? .... the only one that looks decent is Rick Jones (aside from Iron Man and The Hulk). Edit 2: I take that back, Wasp is a girl, and she looks hot the story just got alot more interesting.
I will crush you if you shit on Thor. One of the best Marvel characters and the new movie is hopefully going to be incredible.
I really enjoyed the movie and would rate it 9/10 (the first being a 9.5/10). Anyone else notice the Captain America comic book in the box? It was just a brief glimpse but it was there, unsure of what issue it was but I don't think it's #1.
Yea at one point in the movie he uses a piece of decor from the box (which looks just like captain america's shield) to prop up the mirror tunnel for his laser. I thought this movie was witty and funny. It's tough to get humor in an action flick like this and make it work, but Stark's whimsical, egotisitcal, overly-sure personality sets a perfect paradigm for his mix of action and humor. Sam Rockwell has some really funny parts too, almost as good as Stark. Even Don Cheadle made me giggle. The bad part, imo: the movie has a conflict, but it's mostly a semblance of one. Any struggle for Iron Man, or, for that matter, any other character, is so short-lived that it has no bearing on that character. SPOILER ALERT - Spoiler At one point in the movie you learn that Stark's ultra-powerful energy source (named the Arc Reactor), which both powers his suit and allows for him to continue living without his heart, (?) has actually begun to slowly kill him as well (screams hackneyed hero metaphors). All it takes to overcome this is an accidental stumbling-upon of his father's old video tapes and design-boards and he unlocks one of the greatest scientific discoveries of his time and subsequently saves his own life. Oh - and he accomplishes completely reversing his opinions of his for-years-negligent father in almost 3 seconds of rediscovered video!
SPOILER The shield is the obvious one, I was referring to the Captain America comic in the box given to him by S.H.I.E.L.D. (with his father's name stenciled on the box).
Use [ spoiler ] [/ spoiler] The red was good enough that I didn't read it, but the tag is better. Spoiler TaDa
I watched it, and I hate to say it but... that was just a huge cliché of a movie. And it followed the golden rule for movies, but they really had to tone it down a bit in overal, I mean seriously. Iron Man was completely out of character pretty much the entire movie, but at the end he finally reverted back to the guy he was supposed to be: the cool guy. Spoiler Oh and the main villian was very poorly done I agree... I mean, he almost kicked the crap out of Iron Man in his old gear but with his new gear he doesn't even last longer then your average donut. And ofcourse everything explodes to top it of. But then again, sequals are *usually* bad. If you finished a story line of a movie, either keep the ending open or just don't bother making an attempt at a sequal imo.opcorn:
I really enjoyed the movie. I did think it was a little slow to build but by no means was it a tedious wait to get to the end. Visuals delivered in spades and as mentioned earlier it was nice to see some backstory to Tony and finally have War Machine introduced. I was a little put off initially when I had read months ago that Don Cheadle was taking over but it worked out beautifully. I am looking forward to another Ironman movie and The Avengers. Also.....Scarlett Johansson
that's the beauty of it imo, Spoiler Mjolnir may look plastic, but it will crush you for even looking at it ;p
I just saw it, my question is - the hot really badass chick, who is she in the comics? Does she play a major role, cuz damn she was so awesome.
Black Widow? Major role? Iunno, she is in S.H.I.E.L.D. She is just eye-candy IMO. Extremely... awesome... eye-candy...
I thought Iron Man's chic was way hotter than the bad ass chic. The best actor in the whole movie was Rourke. Well played.
Black Widow was an early but not founding member of the Avengers. Interesting that they have her as a SHIELD agent, though she was a Russian Spy before defecting. Obviously, I have not seen the movie yet. I have high expectations from Marvel and since the reviews have been yay, not YAY, I haven't been motivated to go yet. or maybe I'm waiting for the cheaper show.
