Alright all I'm new to the HTC scene and just had some questions. I use to have an IPhone (hides face in shame) But I did enjoy being able to jailbreak it and change pretty much everything I wanted. So how would I go about doing this on the HTC Evo. I'd like to do things like custom Icons, and or themes, change the boot up screens, basically whatever cool stuff there is to do I want it So how do I get it? Oh and for the love of God can someone tell me how to get it so the main menu goes to landscape mode? And why is this not a default feature -_-
the OG EVO or the 3D EVO? Or the new EVO design? Im hoping you got the EVO 3D for the $50 deal yesterday Also you need to boot into the bootloader and let me know what your hboot version is. Android can install custom ROMs and Kernels. You can just do icons or boot screens if you want to, but you gain the most from a full custom ROM and kernel. If you have the 3D then check out Infected Anthrax from Chad.Goodman, he makes amazing stuff. If you like your iPhone a lot I recommend MIUI as it looks a lot like the iPhone and is crazy smooth and lots of fun to play with. Or if you want to have the least random crap running on your phone and lots of free memory then an AOSP base ROM is best. This is stock Google OS, not the modified OS you get from HTC, Samsung, or Motorola. Motorola and HTC based ROMs use a ton of ram and processor cycles and have tons of random crap running all the time that you dont need. Sense cant normally do landscape mode. Sorry. But you can flash a Sense 3.0 tablet ROM to your EVO 4G and it has a great landscape mode. Unfortunately it is an early stage port and whenever you end a call the phone app force closes on you. It still works fine you just have to hit force close adn then go about your business like usual.
Once I get my phone back from Sprint for repairs I'll get that info to you and no I have the OG Evo got it when it first came out I dont need that 3D jazz lol
Hmm. Well that could be a good thing or bad thing. If its an old one it likely has a proper hboot on it that can be cracked and you can do whatever you want on the phone. But if it is in Sprint for repairs they might upgrade you to the latest hboot and then you could be SOL.
Guess i have to wait and see then 0.o - But assuming that I do have the right stuff to root it what are some of the fun things I can do with it once it's rooted? Like I said I was an IPhone user before so I have no idea what the limits of and Android phone are.
