It's also sort of funny because NYC has already been hit by a hurricane. Twice. It'll probably happen again this year if you believe the predictions.
2100 is in a while man. I think our biggest threat right now is an X-range (probably X-10) flare that would kill our powergrid. A solar "killshot". Living without electricity would be a hell of a mess... - No heat - No running water - No money in the bank anymore - No international logistics - No global production - No transports (plane / boats and the like) - No gas at stations ... Considering the current strength of our magnetosphere this is quite a possibility (like in 1859 where a killshot fried all telegraph lines in a big part of the US), thing is, the sun is completely missing its maximum status (we have no Earth facing delta spots and flares are super low, which is bad as we need M flares to expand our atmosphere). We are close to seeing the same state than during the Maunder minimum in the 15th century, which led to a mini ice age. That's what NASA is afraid of for 2030 as well.
Perhaps I should have put "how the world will end #2,002,291" I just thought the movie was a good watch really.
Silly fools. A great Ragnarok will descend on us and we will witness a unimaginable battle of Norse gods while the heathens continue to pray to their false gods.
