Started a Guild Wars 2 social group here for anyone that plans to play GW2 in the future. Posting this here for everyone that doesn't read the Guild Wars 2 forums much or that are new to XoOâ„¢. Check us out in the group and forums, meeting this Saturday, January 14, 2012 as well!
I was a GW2 fan till some weeks ago. Now i'm over-hyped with Tera (again, lol) and i don't think i'll buy both games :S Not unless Tera doesn't fail really bad and makes me ran away... Is hard tho to not keep an eye on GW2, sigh!
(hypnotize) GW2 has no monthly fee...buy it once and play for years...you can play both and GW2 will always be there for you... (/hypnotize)
ahahaha.....Not hypnotised yet but this for sure doesn't help me take a clear decision, lol Well.....i'll have some months of CBT/OB to decide till Tera official release. I think i'm gonna decide whether sticking to Tera or moving forward to GW2. Arenanet won't start OB/release (i hope ::x till then. Awww man why the hell Tera release so late
ArenaNet is doing beta weekends in March and April. It's not entirely open beta, as there will be a selection process...but you should be able to at least try to get in a few hours of GW2 if you want to give it a shot, it's before TERA's release too, so there's no conflict
Having played GW2 at PAX I was very impressed with the controls / handling of the game. I'm a tiny bit worried about end game PVE and crafting in general (GW1 didn't really have crafting) but overall I think it's going to be amazing. Saying it's free is a bit misleading as you will have to buy expansion packs to stay current (at least in PVE). I'm most likely going to play both games, but if they release around the same time then it's just going to be GW2. Tera looks too much like an Asian MMO and I'm too old for that kind of grind.
Just the quick version: The whole game is end-game, dynamic events are kind of like ad hoc public mini-raids that add up to bigger stories...although that's still not a very good description, it's just very different. Like Rubi says, most MMOs have a carrot-on-a-stick progression where you have to do lesser things to get to the good stuff. Guild Wars 2 has no stick...it's all carrots. It's all battles, ad hoc co-op, huge bosses and content that changes minute to minute, and you're always free to go back and experience old areas in new ways at any time due to the dynamic events changing the world and the level scaling system. The whole thing is good stuff. Just watch this: http://www.gamebreaker.tv/guildcast-endgame-not-necessary/ Crafting works more like Minecraft than WoW...you mix random crap together in different combinations and it gives you different stuff with 0% failure chance. You can make higher tier stuff as your crafting skill increases, but you have to find the combinations first. Yes, if you want to play more new stuff (like new continents and such) you'll have to buy the expansions, but it won't lock you out of the old stuff for not buying it, and the old areas will still get free content updates anyway. Dynamic events are modular, so they can make them easily and will put more into the game regularly.
Tera is an asian game but anything else than grind lol I played it and i can say nothing compares to it till now (i had no chance to test GW2 so can't say if is different or not; although friends of mine tested it at Gamescom and didn't got hyped because of the target system, tab - 1,2,3.. and lack of pve content) But i must see it with my eyes to can judge. I was very bubbled by another game, ArcheAge but after i saw the same old point and click targetting system i got so disappointed that i stopped following it. I don't know yet if i'll buy both games, i just hope i get the chance to test them both and if Tera don'y dissapointing me then most likely i'm gonna stick with it for a while.
Guild wars two in endgame the Whole game is so awesome and playable because of its shear scale "endgame" is unnecessary. Besides this is XoO we have a Awesome past in GW1 we gotta make an awesome showing in the second
[citation needed] doh, it was in http://www.arena.net/blog/dragon For some reason I neglected to consider that as being the same thing.
I can go one better too! It's probably just for stress testing the server, but who cares? Some of us will likely get to try some GW2 very soon
