    Starting from the top....

I installed a new HD friday night in my rig, got xp pro loaded back on, sp2 installed. Went and grabbed the drivers for mobo and installed them, and than grabbed the latest version of the Nvidia drivers and installed them. This is where my problems started, after a reboot I can only get a resolution of 640x480 and 4bit color. I uninstalled the Nvidia drivers and was able to choose all of the resolutions again, however the graphics card was not recognized and there was no graphic acceleration noted.

So thinking I may have corrupted the drivers I downloaded them again from Nvidia, however the same thing occured once again after installing them. I thought that maybe I had somehow fried the GPU while installing the new HD, so popped it into one of my other computers and it worked and bench marked just fine.

After putting it back into my regular rig I noticed that there was a yellow question mark next to the PCI Device on my device manager. I am now fairly certain that is the cause of my problems, however I have not found anything on the internet on how to repair this problem. I have checked and made sure that everything that should be was enabled in the BIOS and there doesn't seem to be anything out of place there.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer in this situation.

What type of graphics card are using? I mean PCI, PCI-E, or AGP? Also what type of motherboard chipset are you using? Via, Intel, nVidia nForce?

I suspect the motherboard is missing a driver, but gimme some more info and I'll be able to help you better.

Thanks a bunch for the quick response Crimson.

After I posted here I did some digging deep into the Gigabyte website and finally found a PCI driver that I needed to install individually and that solved the problem. I was just coming back here to post an update that it had been fixed and you had posted.

Thanks again for trying, and you were spot on!! :D
