I will try to be as nice as possible on this one.

There is no such thing as a good sounding surround sound headset. Every headset from every company that has more than 2 drivers in it sounds like crap. Yes, even the "nice" turtle beach headsets. Although, I have not heard the very top end Turtle Beach one, so maybe that is the single decent one (but not likely). You just cant fit that many drivers into a headset, power them with next to nothing, and sell it for cheap and expect the headset to sound good. To make a good sounding surround headset would cost a minimum of $400. No one makes one.

    On to the Logitech G35:

Surround sound headset? lol. Logitech should be put out of business for scamming customers so badly. You can do what Logitech did in MUCH better quality by simply buying a good headset and having a decent sound card. The G35 headset is NOT surround sound. It is a stereo headset that uses Dolby Pro Logic encoding to simulate surround sound channels. Ya it works out somewhat decently and will sound better than most true surround sound headsets, but even though it sounds better it doesn't actually provide real channel separation for positioning.

Enclosed headsets like this one tend to lack low end, and sound more closed in. Unfortunately the only open-air headset that I can think of is the Sennheiser PC360, but that costs significantly more money. The PC360 is the best headset you can buy though... Anyway, enclosed design = smaller sound stage for audio and less bass.

Additionally, I am against any headphones/headsets that have a USB audio connection. USB means it takes sound out of your computer in digital format and is not affected by any of the sound chips in your computer. It does all the audio processing on its completely crap DAC and amplifier inside the headset that doesnt even come within a mile of reproducing the audio signal properly.

Buy them if you want, the headset is probably nicer than many headsets out there (sadly). But just know it is a stereo headset with simulated surround sound. If your sound card/integrated audio chip supports "Dolby Headphone" then you can do the exact same thing with whatever you have now.

i have as well, for my experience, the surround sounds awesome when it works, sometimes it gets borked up and goes crazy though, so i usually leave it off.

might also be worth pointing out, the headset comes with voice modulation software, which is the source of my 'megatron' and 'doomsquirl' voices, its only got a few options, but is pretty neat to play with.

I have these and they work great. I haven't had any issues with surround sound and to answer your question on comfort, they're great!

Hey, that is my headset too! I love it. Comfortable, sounds great, mic never gets complaints, plus the cord is nice and sturdy which is good because I either don't pay attention and tug it moving from my desk or the kitten will start teething on it (before I spray her with my can-o-air or shoo her away).

Big improvement over the whatever razor gaming headset I had where the cord got a short in it almost a month in.

I guess it really depends on the person. ( comfort wise )

In my case, it gave me a headache after 1 hour of use.

I sold my G35 headset and got an Astro A40 headset. Yeah I know it's expensive and all compared to G35... but it's the most comfortable headset I ever had and did not give me headache after hours of use.

I use my mic and some Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. I love them and wouldn't use anything else. That is if i want to talk to people, if not I use my Logitech X 5500 speakers.

I'd have to agree on the point of not knowing how good USB surround is. No actual HD sound equipment ever uses USB except for a few peripheral products like these, sooo I'm going to have to lean Enigma's way on this and say don't bother with the Logitech G35 unless you really like the other features the headset has. Standard headphone audio with them is probably pretty decent if you do a little fine tuning but of course the Sennheisers will rock your world if you ever try 'em.
