The first word that comes to mind? Lackluster (Sorry, Cody). I didn't go into the movie expecting much, I mean, I rented it from Blockbuster. I think if I'd have paid more than the rental fee, I'd have been disappointed, but, at around $4, I was somewhat pleased with the evening's mindless movie-watching. The characters are, well, unbelievable. They're a cast of over-the-top superlatives for each of their portrayed stereotypes and they fill those well. Billed as the great new comedy by the "guys who brought you The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up," FSM doesn't really live up to the humor or the quality of either of the prior blockbusters. The acting isn't as smooth and the characters' interactions with each other seem almost haphazard. As far as movies I would lump into a category of "fluff," this one fits nicely. It made me giggle a few times and was a somewhat decent distraction -- I mean, that's what the movies are for, amirite? Don't expect to gain anything from watching and you won't be disappointed.
