So I had some pretty important files in a folder on one of my USB keys and when I went to retrieve them today the folder was gone. The strange part is that it was just one folder that disappeared but individual files outside of the folder are still there. The file is not "hidden" as I have the option enabled to view those files and it doesn't show up. The strange part of all of this is that of the files I can see there is 9 MB total but when you view the space occupied on the drive there is ~1.2 Gb of files missing but still taking up space. Anyone know what is happening or if there is any chance of recovering the folder? It's not the end of the world as I have the info scattered over various computers so I didn't really lose anything but I am curious to know what is going on and if I can rescue the data as it would mean I don't have to consolidate all the info again.
http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-28692-how-to-retrieve-lost-files-in-flash-drives click start, then go to RUN and type cmd, press enter then change the directory. go to the directory of your flash drive then type ATTRIB -S -H *.* /S /D press enter.. wait for a minute if the directory appear. type exit then open your flash drive or try http://www.piriform.com/recuva
Thank You!!!!! Any idea why the first method makes files reappear? The second utility looks like it would have worked but I went through command prompt instead.
