Yeah that was a good feature during their presentation, building towns and stuff, quite nice.

Hello. Sorry to necro this thread, but this game entered Alpha testing early Feb, and at some point relatively soon it will be entering Closed Beta.

Which brings me to my point. I got myself into Alpha testing and I will have 4 Closed Beta keys once Alpha is finished running its course.

I would like to gift these keys to 4 XoObies who would like to Beta test with me when the time comes. I only have 4, so please think about whether you would actually make use of the key instead of wasting your time.

Hope to hear back from at least one or two of you!

I was actually thinking the same, I love testing games and have been apart of many alpha/betas before. If you wish to throw me a key, that would be great, if not, then I will just purchase one myself anyway :)

either way, we can game together, that would be tight

You both certainly may have one! Like I said, it's still in alpha. So, whenever that ends I'll be given those keys before closed beta starts. I'll PM you a key once I get them.

In the meantime, the NDA for alpha testing was lifted after day 1, so there should be at least 1 stream out there somewhere at all times that you could watch. It may be boring since they just want building mechanics to be tested. Less than 50% of the game is available and the continents are all instances.

The game will actually release at open beta, just FYI.

the game looks very interesting as far as community stuff and building been watching a few streams ... 60$ seems like a lot of money for a builder currently but some people look to be having fun

In the future with combat and all of that could be very interesting

I've been waiting for a builder game that doesn't bore the living crap out of me and has something to do with the stuff you actually build. I'll be keeping an eye on the game but not positive on getting it until they add combat and such.

We're about to finish voting on the next harvesting tool they want to implement for us to test out, called the Pulverizer:

    It's a little out-of-lore, but whatever.

As far as the gameplay itself goes, there has been a memory leak with this game that is continuing to cause the application to hang after a certain amount of time.
This same problem is actually affecting me, so I can really only harvest materials and make it back to my plot of land before my client crashes.

Whenever this annoying memory leak problem is fixed, I'll start showing some random screenshots of some neat stuff I have seen (one of my neighbors built a 3-story tall statue of an EQNL explorer next to their forge, and another neighbor has a sick looking Lord of the Rings-style spire touching the skies).

HM EQN Landmark is something to try, i love EQ more than anything, played EQ1 for over 7 years and EQ2 for 4. EQ is basically what made me "meh" at WOW and never play it. It's exactly the same with my wife too (except the EQ1 part), she's an EQ2 maniac.

If u have one spare key left, she'd probably use it to the core as she's a builder and EQ addict. I'm also quite some and could pile up with her on it. If not it's allright, might get one eventually as i got one of the oldest SOE accounts ever lol (1997).

It's a nice sig u got doctorie btw.

just got my refund from SOE on this. was great, a great minecrafting type game old style minecraft.. I really didn't feel my creations were worth while to rest of the servers. except my underground cave.. but wasn't worth the $60 for minecraft but much much better. at least for me.. I will wait for the true mmo to come out EQ:N

Well that's completely understandable. This game will be F2P when it is released, though, should you ever want to fall back on an "enhanced, minecraft-esque" play experience in the future. I'm sure EQN will be very fun, and I will probably try to get into the beta for that game, as well.

Anyway, I wanted to pass along the info for the upcoming closed beta:
EQNL Closed Beta will begin on 26 MAR 2014.

I will have 4 extra beta keys to hand out; given to me on that same day. They are "time-limited", but I have no exact details right now on how long the limited playtime will last.

If you asked for a beta key, then I have pretty much assigned your name to one, whether I openly acknowledged it or not:
    1. tommit22
    2. Total_Overkill
    3. Itherael
    4. haibane

If your mindset has changed toward this game, and you no longer wish to beta test, please let me know so I can make good use of these keys. Otherwise, I think this'll be pretty sweet.

edit: I apologize Itherael, you definitely asked me for a beta key and I forgot to add you to the list. I even have a sticky note with your name on it, sorry about that.

I have been watching my email all morning waiting for these beta keys. As of right now I have not received anything from SOE. Just a quick update.

So anyway, it's the weekend and some of you that I have sent keys to may actually try out the game. There is no direction that they give you when you start out, so I will throw up some really basic guidance:

    1. Harvest heartwood (obtained after felling a tree).
    2. Mine copper, copper elemental, and agate
    3. Craft a copper pick.
    4. Harvest heartwood.
    5. Mine tin, tin elemental, and tourmaline.
    6. Craft a tin axe.
    7. Harvest heartwood and palmwood.
    8. Mine iron, iron elemental, and aquamarine.
    9. Craft iron pick.

You should get the idea by now. I'll be on TeamSpeak this evening if you start having issues with game installation, or just general questions. Feel free to pester me regardless of whichever channel I may be in.

I am in this game. Digging it so far, learning how to build is pretty intense once you get into the advanced stuff
