http://crixa.io/emberthegame/ Anyone remember Project Titan? The game that ended up turning into Overwatch? Well to give you some history the team that was working on Titan before Blizzard scrapped it and used the original tech and coding to make Overwatch eventually made the Firefall beta. I like to point out the Firefall *BETA* and not the current version of Firefall because the current version of Firefall is just WoW with guns and Mark Kern the main dude behind the original Firefall left Red 5 Studios before Firefall was ever released. If you are like me and played Firefall from the start you may have noticed it change from something more similar to Planetside 2 (but only 2 sides, players vs AI instead of full pvp) to WoW with guns. Hell even crafting is gone now...which is terrible. Firefall is dead now, I'm guessing the studio behind it finally realized their mistake of trying to make it like WoW and have basically abandoned it, Mark Kern tried to purchase the IP back but was denied so he's now making Ember. The idea behind Ember is simple, players vs AI similar to how Planetside 2 works, you will hop into a smaller scale map (no real open world) via some form of drop ship and fight back the enemies. When a battlefield is entirely claimed by the players (Reapers) then you can move to another battlefield and rinse and repeat. To quote the main page... "Ember is an open-world, sci-fi shooter where hundreds of players wage war to control the resources and territory of an alien planet against an NPC controlled faction of aliens and their tech infused giant monsters (kaiju). Players claim new territory by terraforming new areas of the planet, defending it with player built bases and military hardware, while mining precious resources to fuel their expansion. Ember is being created by Mark Kern (team lead, vanilla WoW. Producer – Diablo/Starcraft)" Mark has stated he wants players to be able to build these 'thumper' like mining drones that can be upgraded into huge factories that will mine resources, these 'thumpers' (btw, he can't use the name thumper since it's from Firefall) will attract enemies to them so you have to constantly fight off the AI from destroying your 'thumper'. The resources gained will allow you to upgrade 'stuff' that allows you to better take over the map. There isn't going to be any vertical progression, like the eventually did in Firefall, so the game will be incredibly pick up and play like Planetside was. Tactics will be rewarded so organized teams, like XoO, will be incredibly beneficial, like we were in Planetside. The kickstarter is going to come out on the 29th (hopefully), when/if it does I'm going to post it here in this topic. This will be almost entirely crowdfunded so there will be 0 chance big companies like Bliz Activision or Red 9. (the publishers who killed this game twice already, Titan and Firefall) If you're wondering what Firefall was supposed to be read this http://crixa.io/2016/05/what-firefall-was-supposed-to-be/ I actually remember some of this stuff from the early beta until Red 5 remade the game the first time. You can actually see some semblance of the original system still in the current iteration of Firefall with the dynamic event system where new structures will pop up. The only difference is all of these 'dynamic events' are designed the exact same way they are in GW2, they always spawn in the same areas. In Ember the system will be based around an AI director that will move in forces based on what the players are doing to make the game more fun (exactly the same way it's done in L4D).
