I just bought 2 Thrustmaster T-16000M to replace my X-55. After just a few days I can tell you it control you get is amazing. I can't wait to see how much better it gets with some more practice. After experiencing duel stick here is how I rank game controls in the current state of the game. Duel Stick > M&K > HOTAS > single stick ps Do not buy a Saitek X-55. Mine is already falling apart.
I was all excited about the X55 I bought awhile back. I actually have not used it much since I could not create a comfortable table set up for it. Not to mention I found I can fly pretty well with M/KB. Anyway, I have heard the same about X55 not being very tough. Curious how you mapped your sticks and how you set up your desk or chair to comfortably fly that way. Anyway, here is link to a website I found a while back on Joystick set ups, etc.... Its under the Preflight Section. http://imperialnews.network/lis/
I have roll on the left stick and strafe up/down on the right. That is hard to get used to but many threads say that is the way to go in the long run so I'm trying to break bad habits. The bindings are a nice starting point I am modding from there as I learn. Nothing special. Just on top of my desk.
Super serious... Vanduul Swarm down with no deaths. Asteroid fields are now my friend now that I can maneuver through them for cover while keeping my gun on target.
I haven't been playing much SC lately, just waiting for things to come out But my friend who went to Wales for his degree has borrowed me this HOTAS As far as I'm concerned its worked really well. Now I didn't bother changing much of the controls on SC as I was simply testing it out, but I did play 4-5 hours of Elite with it, and it worked fine. Only problem I have is that its very light, if I pull the stick too far in any direction I will lift the whole thing. It has screw holes in it but not going to make a hole in my desk (probably a way to bolt them to something besides the desk). These go for 150 dollars here with the current exchange rate (Doller/Euro/Pound has doubled since 2014.) And the X-55 is 250 dollars atm. As this stick is on loan for 3 years, I won't be able to use them during the launch (huehue) So eventually I gotta find something to replace it, cause I'm quite sure that once I invest myself into using a HOTAS, there's no way I can go back to M/K.
Omg just join the Army and become pilots! ROFL Bolting them down? I dont even think that would work for me (flex) Give me any flying game tho I normally play them with Xbox Controllers. I was pro at most flying games. Its my favorit thing to actually play. But I have to be in 3rd person. I cant seem to ever get the feel of how wide my ship is being inside. =/
That was the X-52 pro. I had one that lasted for years but they were bought by madcatz and now everything they make is awful. This is also who will be making the official Star Citizen HOTAS.
