So, who played the demo? http://store.steampowered.com/app/47900/ What did you think? I personally thought it was really well done and I liked it. Vicious says that the console version is faster paced though. Which I would definitely be interested in.
Disliked: + Camera/movement changes from DA: O + Overall strategic element lost from combat + Invisible walls/narrow directional options Liked: + Change in art style + Flemeth + Attributes breakdown + What I saw of the skill trees It was better than I expected, but still not what I'd hoped for. I'm praying they allow for better camera control, but I think I'll be stuck with this "console POV" BS.
play the console version and then say you lost strategic combat hahaha its a fricken hack n slash with skills game.......but it should have been like that from the start for consoles. All in all PC vs console = two completely gameplay experiences. not sure if there will be an option to do that or if you just plug in a control and it switches to the other style.
I'm unsure if you got me... the loss of strategic elements of combat come from the speed increase. It's not any more detailed or challenging, just faster. Less like D&D, more like God of War with a "click to move" option. I'd assume at this point that the PC and console versions play almost identically.
It's not bad at all, still need to get used to the camera controls while moving around and fighting. I am just wondering if the story is going to be split up like that, or they made it that way for the Beta. I don't mean the fake vs real story as told by the dwarf, I mean after the escape when you reach the city. It suddenly jumps ahead with a bunch of flashbacks to a point where you help Isabela. Those flashbacks, I hope we get to actually play them.
I'd really like to use A and D to move left and right instead of Q and E, and to turn my camera with my mouse... so it doesn't feel as though they ported this over from a console. Additional negative: invisible walls/narrow directional options. I was hoping they'd improve upon that from DA: O but they didn't. I'm pretty sure they did that for the demo.
I changed the movement to A and D, and changed Q and E for the camera. Best I found so far. Considering left click has to stay, and you need an attack button... maybe extra mouse buttons could become the current A/D camera movement? I hope so, I am a bit scared since they did mention the story will move forward a few months/year ahead in time to cover the 10 years of the game story.
2nd run through the demo: found that holding the right mouse button gives you better control over the camera... until it resets itself to its original position. :/ Additional positive: storytelling/cutscenes.
I actually liked that you have to manually attack now; a mechanic that was sorely lacking from DA:O. I've only played the 360 demo, but I have to say that I was extremely satisfied with how everything played out. The camera took a little getting used too, though.
Agreed, I'd like an option to bind the camera to the mouse and use the auto-targeting system from the console.
I feel like I'm the only person so far in this thread who actually felt comfortable with the camera. Just inverted the Y axis and I felt right at home, didn't bug me at all. I loved the demo (this was on the 360) but I never played the first, it felt a bit hack 'n slash to me but alas - it was JUST a demo. Also, what's up with every female have triple F cup breasts? That's gettin' real old.
For me was, love and hate. for example, i like some parts of the combat. Other it looked to much like God of War. I loved the 2H warrior, hitting multiple Enemies with the swing was cool! But the animations where kinda too fast, and some times he was swinging with one hand. It looked that the capture of the animation where done swinging the air, and it shows that the blows don't feel like having weight behind them. (it reminded me screwing around in my kendo class) the Rogue, some of the jumps where to much. Like chasing a Darkspawn doing butterfly kicks? a little to much. doing like 3 in row, it felt to unrealistic. I loved the DW animation for the miasmic Flask, Grbing it and kicking it to hit the target was Cool! mages where cooler all around. the new darkspans i did not like them. the ogre was ok, i didnt like the purple one. but i like the skin tone of the old ones looked more putrid! this feal like albino Darkspawn. still i will buy it, i just hope its not shorter than DA:O. BTW as a 28 Year old married man that lived all his life with images of hald naked woman in my "D&D" history i demand that at leat 75% of the woman in Video games to be half naked and with big you know what!
Playing it some now.. I was a big fan of Origins so I don't really understand why they changed so much, it plays much faster but it seems to have taken away from the strategy and made it easier than anything else. Other than my confusion of changing the pace it seems fun and I can't wait for it. TBH though, so far it hasn't had the impression that Origins had on me, it's almost like because it's faster paced I lose interest in the story.
Yea now its more Console friendly. also they removed Friendly fire up to nightmare. something that will make me play in my first play trough. The game looks cooler in the action, and like ME in the Dialog, in the DA setting. for a lot of people thats awesome! for me not so much. but i still think bio has good games and worth playing.
