Don't know if anyone announced this, or cares, but Dungeon and Dragons online is now free to play. Just got an email about it even though I haven't logged in in about 3 years

There has been the Free to Play beta testing up for awhile. The Servers were updated on September 1st for VIP and 9th for everyone else with Mod 9. This switched the game to a Free to play/VIP model.

They also introduced a new server (Cannith) with some upgraded hardware.

I am currently Playing as Valindria on Cannith. Let me know if anyone wants to join me.

Woo! I'm excited. I got DDO when it launched and thought it was alright, but didnt hold my interest enough to warrant the monthly sub. Now that it's free I'm thinking I'll give it another whirl.

isnt' it only free to play to like level 5 or 6 or something? (and yes they changed this a long time ago, unless this is another change?)

Be careful as well... it has a bittorrent like updater that was running on a friends PC that was killing his speeds... Make sure it's not sucking up your bandwidth while your playing other games ;)

Yes Free to play is limited.

Basically you need to get find leveling sigils as quest rewards or buy them to be able to get a max level toon.

Also the content of the free to play is limited with the goal you will buy more. It is possible to grind favor to unlock more areas. When I stop subbing I will use the points I have to unlock content and move to F2P.

I'm playing it now, I'm a big D&D nerd, and it's a nice break from the traditional MMO, with the DM talking and all of that. Anyways, I'll move to Cannith, I'll be playing a Rogue, seeing as every party needs a Rogue! Add me, my characters name will be Samakar
