having trouble getting my new laptop to find my existing wireless d link router....on the laptop when i hit the radar.....i doesnt show it.....Its a DI 514 it also shows "wireless connection unavailable" in words of wisdom would be appreciated
Router broadcasting SSID? Reset router? Try manually entering the name and see if it connects. Update router firmware. Update wireless driver. Try connecting with another laptop if that doesn't work, or try connecting to another access point to see if it's router or the laptop.
hmm i had a sort of simmilar problem with my router a D-link also not sure of the model as im not at home, where i had to be quite close to my router to get a signal, well at least in the same room. it was fixed not long ago after i was able to update my router, although it still slows down a fair bit jusr by going about 15m away from it.
Linksys = cisco which = networking standard worldwide. D-Link and Netgear are both not as reliable or good. Even though they ADVERTISE to be better (higher speed, which they dont say is only speed within a network, ie transfering files from pc to pc within a network) they are not. I have worked with all of them and overall my experience has taught me that Linksys routers and NICS work the best overall. As far as ease of connection, strength of connection and overall strong signal go. This is just my opinion and feel free to form your own.
Well the only Linksys I've owned was pre-Cisco days, and it was utter junk. I'm sure they're much better now they're a part of Cisco (heh).
