I need some constructive ciriticism for my entry for the SotW. I am not sure which one to enter and what to change on any of them if anything should be changed. Thoughts? Necron stock from Warhammer.
Honestly I like the green one more, but that could be because I'm a DoW whore. I like the way you have the effects in it too, although it's weird seeing a necron in a really light/shiny background, usually they're more emo
thats pretty awsome the blue one is sweet well i was just wondering if u usd photoshop to make those and if u did send me a message. i have a qweistion
My problem with both is that the focus seems to be on the effects, not the images. My eyes keep wanting to look at the pretty flares and such, not the stocks.
that's what graphics are all about. most sigs have somewhat of a focal point (stock), but are 70.0% of the time dwarfed by the cool effects, its how cool these effects mesh witht he stock is the key. The main thing is to belnd the stock into the background or make them as one rather than separating them out so technically there is no real focal point as its supposed to mesh together. the rest are like mine below and yours.
I played them in the game ^_^ I was scared shitless of them when I tried playing a different race. Scared because I knew what they were capable of >_< That, and the chaos marine's spot on the map SUCKED.
Blue. The effects in the blue one just seem to work better with the stock. Frankly i think the images in the sigs need to have a focal point. While the meshing looks cool, i find my self wanting to focus on something, and the green spreads out the focus that i cant focus on something. Example of a not so good focus (imo): I didnt vote for this sig because frankly I couldn't really tell what it was supposed to be of. This sig needs to have the bulk of the noise removed from it and maybe could benefit by not trying to use words in it. What is that stock anyway? Example of a stronger focus: The crazy eyes guy had good focus too. I voted for the above because I thought it was the cleanest one and that it didn't break focus or waste space (imo the downfall of crazyeyes, theres this large chunk of real estate to the left that feels like it could have not been there). So my constructive criticism is this: General: try to focus on something in the scene more than overwhelming the stock with special effects. Specific to green: There appears to be a bad washout going on over the necron's left shoulder. Hes almost backlit. Weaken that light a bit and maybe try to add a light below him to the left to accentuate the edges on the bottom, or make it darker behind him. The stuff on the left below the word "Dream" doesn't seem to mesh well with the scene. It feels like the necron is on the side of a spaceship. Mainly cut down the light behind him and try to move it infront of below him so that he isn't backlit as badly. Other than that its pretty decent. Specific to blue: This has a better balance between stock and special effects and doesnt have as much space to waste as the necron does.
