    Hey folks,

As i'm relocating, hopefully, in around 15 days, i was wondering about ISPs.

I'm currently with Bell in the furnished condo i rent, but i must say, i've never seen such a piece of crap Internet. It's, like, capped at 2Mbps and i get, like, the biggest lag spikes in history, ping racing to 1500ms and all. That's why i can't even hope to hop in PS2, or even, TS. And it's supposed to be Bell Fibe here (hence fiber), prolly their smallest offer at 5Mbps

I'm thinking about Videotron as they offer 60Mbps in my new place and they are the only ones, with Bell, offering "optic fiber". I hope it'll fixe the problems and that i'll be able to play.

Do you guys know any other alternative ? I've looked it up but i couldn't find anyone else (they're all ADSL, not even 2+ sometimes...).

Also, do u guys have lag spikes as well ? Or is it really due to this crap (abeit brand new) installation here ?

    Cheers :)

I've been with bell for ~10+ years for ISP. Never had any of the problems you mentioned. d/l + u/l speeds aren't anything to brag about since the plan is so old but I have ping usually under 100 (50 most often I would guess) in games unless I am downloading. It's good enough to be one of the top players in the crysis multiplayer mode I spend most of my time in. I play PS2 perfectly fine.

    ETA- I'm on DSL

You have to say what area, most mini sized providers give the best service, but are restricted to region. Im using Westcomm in Manitoba, love it, so far had 0 down time and bandwidth is not capped. Out east, Eastlink is amazing, I enjoy rogers service, however, they cap your download and charge you if you go over.

Thx for all the info. They mostly all have cap limit :(

Videotron is like the cheapest atm, since they had a cheap mobile phone plan i took it with em so i should be around 90$ a month for 60 Mbps without cap + modem rental.
Bell's the biggest but here it's quite weird, tried a couple BF3 games and everytime my ping starts at 20ish, which is good, but goes up to 1500 for a while. At first i thought it was the wifi but even with a cable it's the same. The modem they use here and which's linked to the FTTSH looks quite crappy tho.

Peeps in Montreal say Bell got a very, very bad customer service... My first idea was to go with em (they got the Bell centre and all), but i'm quite inclined to videotron now. They are big here but i don't know if it's a Quebec only company ?

Tried Tekksavy, they have also nice plans, but their unlimited's like 20$ more per month and u have to pay everything upfront.

Edit : Ah yeah, and Rogers doesn't do residential internet here, only wireless and mobile phone :(

1st we would need to know your specific area.
Cause Canada is pretty wide =]

Teksavvy, Start, Vmedia, but they are all resellers.
Also your best bet would be to ask your question at http://www.dslreports.com/forum/canbroadband
