Almost the entire HUD is 3D geometry!! Look at the radar system . Now I really want the C&C hornet as SL for my static. Also this was probably the composite armor that Chris Smith was actually thinking about when he designed the planetside 2 scythe lol
lmao it does look nice, but functionality-wise it may be a bit hard to actually see what you are firing at - especially if ships are moving fast. Perhaps slow down the pace to compensate?

That's what happens when you hire the guy who made the HUD effects for the Iron Man movies. Plus since this is space combat, you radar will probably cover you from most things in terms of sight until your facing each other. I don't really feel it obstructs the FoV that much, but it is bulky.
Yeah and as with everything I highly suspect many of these elements will be customized/controllable pieces. For instance as a C&C hornet/ship I will want a big *** radar showing ship types, weapon complements and every other piece of info I can get so that I can support/direct team members to weaknesses and advantages, while if I am in front combat I don't want a HUD. Its kinda similar to my PS2 scythe play, when I fly alone I hardly, if ever, have the HUD on. When I fly in a squad I have it turned on until I'm directly engaged by multiple targets. EDIT: I do want a HUD just a very minimal one if in front line combat.
