Cadaverous, Destruction Warlock

Discussion in 'Denied Applications' started by Cadaverous, Feb 8, 2010.

  1. 1. Character Name, Class, and Main Spec:

Cadaverous, Warlock, comfortable raiding as Affliction or Destruction

    2. Armory Link: (and talent choices explained):

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Sargeras&cn=Cadaverous is my current gear (I will try to remember to log out in PVE gear, my apologies if I forget). The talents I would use for raiding in XoO are the following:

Pretty standard base talents—the only thing I think I need to explain is why I chose destruction over affliction. While affliction does have higher theoretical single target dps, the fact remains that few if any progression fights are ideal. Affliction has an extremely long ramp-up time, which makes it extremely ineffectual at burning adds, gimping it on important fights like Deathwhisper, Saurfang, Dreamwalker, and the Lich King. Destro, on the other hand, has great faculties when it comes to switching targets quickly. I will mention that I have raided as affliction before, and am not opposed to switching specs if the higher-ups think that is the better choice.

    3. List raid helpful professions:

    430 Tailoring and 430 Enchanting (and 450 Cooking/Fishing)

    4. Time playing WoW and PvE progression:

I have played WoW since late BC, and have been raiding since the release of WotLK. With my current guild I have killed Festergut 10 and Saurfang 25, with much (wiping) experience on Rotface 10.

    5. Describe your method for theorycrafting your class:

My #1 resource is the EJ website, which answers virtually all of my questions. If I can’t find any useful info there, I will get out a pencil and paper and start crunching numbers.

    6. Age (18 is required with limited exceptions):

    19

    7. Occupation and living arrangements that impact raiding(family, classes, dorm, night shifts etc):

University undergraduate studying biotechnology. Currently living in a single dorm room.

    8. Guild you are leaving and why: (If you join another guild without following up here, application will be closed):

Leaving Get Rich or Die Grinding due to social drama and a lack of focus on serious PVE progression.

    9. How did you hear about us? List any friends/references within the guild:

I saw a member mention in /2 that you were recruiting a warlock. Sadly I do not have any references in the guild.

    10. List consumables you bring to raid:

Flask, Potion of Speed/Wild Magic, Healing Potions, Fish Feasts

    11. Any Scheduling conflicts (consider possible weekend groups for 10mans):

I may infrequently have tests on raid nights. I am otherwise free.

    12. Provide measure of your damage/healing such as Recount (Screenshot to include player breakdown of attack %'s), WoW Web Stats (WWS), or World of Logs listing:

I don’t have one from a raid at the moment; I will hopefully update this post tomorrow after all my raids unlock. Edit:

This is from the 10-man Vault I put together today.

    13. Provide a UI screenshot:

    14. Final comments you feel could help your application:

I consider myself mature and dedicated. I’m not pissy when I don’t get loot and I don’t mind wiping all night. I have completed several ultramarathons. I will never miss a raid without posting on the forum unless some emergency occurs. I have a very low tolerance for drama.

What changes would be required to gems, enchants, etc. for you to be another spec if asked to do so? Is your second tree available for PvE or would you be changing the destro to something asked of by the guild (since you brought up the PvP gear on armory possibility)?

We may have further questions as we review your application in greater detail.

  3. Changing my spec between Affliction and Destruction would not require any changes to gear, enchants, or gems. Destruction and Affliction broadly have the same stat priorities, at least at my current gear levels (haste outscales all other stats for Affliction at very high t10 equipment, but I don't expect that to be an issue any time soon).

I currently maintain a PvE spec as well as a PvP spec. While I would prefer to keep one spec available for PvP, the truth is I only PvP casually. I will happily switch both specs to PvE if that's best for the guild.
