1. Character Info: Name, Class, Main Spec (Link armory): Brjdrb, Resto Shaman http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Sargeras&cn=Brjdrb 2. Explain your talent selection (theorycrafting source, specialization choices etc): I used the resto article on EJ to learn about my spec and decide what talent to use. The differences are in which 2 of 3 talents to choose: elemental weapons, healing way, or healing focus. I chose elemental weapons and healing way for my spec for the sp benefit and the bonus to healing wave. I disregarded healing focus because in most fights I have not seen a great need to reduce pushback while casting. 3. Your Age: 21 4. Current professions and their raid benefit: I am 450 mining, and 181 bs, though i am leveling it currently to gain those extra two gem slots. 5. How long you've been playing WoW and what PvE progression you've accomplished: I have been playing actively since january, and have progressed to 10/12 in 10m (with marrowgar, dw, gunship, and festergut on heroic), and 11/12 in 25m (with marrowgar, gunship, rotface, and blood queen on heroic). 6. Describe how you theorycraft your class (websites, spreadsheets, etc): I mostly use the resto article on EJ when i need to refer to specific gear or stat questions. I also used that article to gain a general understanding of how to play a resto shaman, and received advice from several other resto shamans during raids. At this point I am stacking haste, except for the 2 red gems required for revitalizing skyflare diamond. I replaced the insightful earthsiege diamond once I no longer had mana problems during fights. 7. Occupation and living arrangements that impact raiding (family, schedule, etc): I work first shift during the summer, from 6:15am-2:45pm monday through friday. Occasionally I work until 4:45 and on saturdays until 1:30. I am available at all other times, given a few days notice, and I have a reliable connection. 8. Guild History - where are you leaving and why: I was told I was applying for a raid roster spot only. 9. How did you hear about us? List any friends/references within the guild:Trade chat 10. List your raid consumables and your method for maximizing them: I no longer have problems with mana, so I use flask of the frost wyrm. I also use runic mana pots when necessary, but this is only during an emergency situation (e.g. had to ankh during a fight). 11. List scheduling conflicts (include times for possible weekend 10mans): Besides my work schedule listed above, I have no scheduling conflicts, provided I am given 2 days notice. 12. Provide your raid damage/healing performance. Examples are Recount Screenshot with personal breakdown of attacks, WoW Web Stats (WWS), or World of Logs: I don't have any saved at the moment, but I am finishing an icc10 on sunday, and I can provide a screenshot at that time. I can list any / all of the fights remaining (we have finished 4/12 and fester / rotface so far). 13. Provide a screenshot of your UI: http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae222/brjdrb/uiscreenshot.png 14. Can you take constructive criticism and being call out on mistakes (both in and out of raid)? yes 15. Final comments you feel could help your application: I am highly committed to improving both my character and my gameplay. I have a very flexible schedule and am willing to make the necessary changes to become a better player
Were you playing WoW at all before January? Have you played/were you playing a different MMO before? If you are accepted we would expect you to join the guild. We're not just about raiding.
Overall, it looks like you have a good spec, gear, gemming, etc. Your experience in Heroic Icecrown is a good start. However, it appears you are missing shoulder and boot enchants. Maybe you just overlooked this. Leveling your BS skill and replacing mining with something else, such as JC, to provide extra raid benefits would be ideal, but at least you mentioned this problem and said you plan to get your professions up. I have a few questions, in addition to r3d3's: 1. Could you explain why you are using the 50sp/20spi leg enchant instead of 50sp/30stam? 2. If haste is an important stat, why did you decide to use red gems to fulfill your meta requirement instead of an orange sp/haste gem?
I played final fantasy 11 a few years ago, but not for any significant amount of time. I started playing wow last august, but i stopped at 58 because my 3x partner quit and my other guildies were less active. I returned when my guildies became more active, and reached 80 early february, on the 9th iirc. So no, I don't have much prior experience time-wise, but I have and will continue to be able to dedicate a significant amount of time to my character if needed. As for joining the guild, I was told by detoxz ingame after he posted in trade chat that a guild invite would only be given if I had a friend in XoO already, and that it was only raid roster spots that were available. My current guild is one with my rl friends. We are not doing an icc progression (hence my search for a group); instead we mainly do the weekly raid as a guild. If I am required to join Xen to have a raid roster spot, then I will likely have to rescind my application. If this is the case, does Xen run any pug groups? Also, assuming you'd still like to see them, for which boss(es) should I provide a recount screenshot? Yeah, I had planned on switching to JC now that I no longer use mining as a source of income. As for the enchants: yeah, I had overlooked the shoulder and foot enchants, thanks for bringing those to my attention. I purchased the leg enchant when I did because it was cheaper on AH at the time (I was low on gold), and it did not seem like a significant downgrade. Money is not an issue now, and I will have the correct enchant asap. In addition to my resto set, I have an enhance spec, and am now building a ele set. I chose those sp gems because I am currently using those pieces for my ele set as well, but I will be able to replace both pieces once I turn in the weekly (frost legs and triumph hands). I will replace the sp gems with haste/sp gems as soon as I have those pieces.
I am not sure about that. I think he may be referring to the friend/casual rank, you shouldn't need to have a friend in guild in order to be accepted as a recruit. The application process is for recruits. However, I didn't hear the conversation so maybe I am missing something. Yes, as far as I know.
Are you saying this because you misunderstood what detoxz said about needing a friend in guild? or you would prefer to stay in your own guild?
Both i guess. I would prefer to stay in my current guild and I misunderstood what he said. I might leave my current guild once they no longer need me for progression, but for now I will be withdrawing my application. Thanks again for the suggestions on improving my character, and if I am in need of a guild I will reapply
