Hey, I was just wondering if you're able to run blu-ray files on a laptop. I downloaded Avatar on blu-ray, .mkv file, and tried to run it through VLC. I got the audio, but the video would stop at the first image that gets shown. I tried to link it to the TV and have it only show there, but it didn't work (just realized I didn't use an HDMI cable as well as the adaptor, would that make a difference?). My friend had this problem on his laptop, but could play it through his desktop, same program and version, same file etc., only difference being a desktop... I was wondering if there is a solution to this or if I'll have to send it through my desktop somehow.
Yeah, I use mine to play HD files all the time, and my laptop has Intel graphics, lol. Make sure you have the right codecs installed. Download CCCP from here http://cccp-project.net/
Speaking of laptops. Since I might be on the road for the next 3 months, can anyone suggest a good gaming laptop for a decent price?
Don't use CCCP it's complete crap. Shark007 or nothing. It's the only codec pack you should be putting on your system. CCCP hides way to much crap in there. http://shark007.net/
Ok, I noticed that both of those only seem to work for media player. Is there any way of getting them to work with VLC? I just prefer that program. I downloaded CCCP and it works with media player, so its not as big a deal now with VLC.
Shark works with them all you just have to change the default. If you're running Win7 WMC is the way to go as is. You should also download MyMovies3, it is fantastic if you're actually trying to build a library.
what kinda price are you looking at ... and yes you can run blu ray files on a laptop let me know what price and or companies your looking at ... I go back to work at micro center on thursday if you want me to get some ideas for ya
gaming taptop & decent price? it is sure to Dell Vostro 3500 15.6" Core i3 Laptop. It will satisfy all your needs. Right now it is on sale at dell business for only $539. Hurry up before it is gone. I just got mine. It does not feel cheap at all and the speed is pretty decent. check here to the deal if you want hope it helps
That thing has intel integrated graphics... which means it's the perfect gaming laptop as long as you only intend to play solitaire.
You know, it's kind of hard to help find a good deal on a laptop without knowing what you're willing to spend...
Who knows what a decent price to most people is but up here in Canada I would say 1500 is about the least amount you will spend on a laptop with bluray on it. I would never spend less than that on a laptop I was actually going to use. As mentioned earlier as long as the laptop doesnt have integrated graphics and is one of the new offerings from ATI or Nvidia then you should be able to run anything out there.
I would imagine that is the case. It would come in the format .mkv and weigh in around 8gb I believe for a full def rip.
