If anyone can help me with this SATA port problem, then I'll love you long time. Basically, my graphics card is doing a nice job of blocking access to 2 SATA ports. L-shaped connectors don't work as they point in the direction which is also blocked by a few other cables. So I guess what I'm looking for is inverted L-shaped connector SATA cables? FYI these are Sata 2 ports, not 3. Here's a video of the blocked ports.
N/m, my friend helped me find just what I was looking for!! http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=28755&vpn=SATA24LA1&manufacture=nGear Technologies Inc.
If you're saying I should have tried that before, then no. If that worked, I wouldn't be here posting about it. But once I pick up these new cables, then of course I'll pull out the card first. That's exactly what I thought when I installed the motherboard. It's an Intel Xtreme edition gamer's motherboard, so you'd think they would foresee a giant graphics card being installed on it. That's not the end of it. Since there are two PCIe ports, you'd think I could just use the second port for the graphics card. NOPE! The second one blocks all the prongs for the power/reset/LED switches. The card won't even go in because of it. Fucking grade A designing right there.
That mobo battery looks like an angry face! Intel has been doing a great job with their mobo component QA lately, not. See: Cougar Point Design Flaw
Well, I fashioned myself a left-angle connector from a straight-edge connector, using a dremel tool and some precision. Made two of them. All's good in the hood.
Cord management 101 needed, I would take Enigma up on that offer in a heart beat... But I would never have to with how picky I am about cords... But yeah this is another reason I stick to not going with Intel with Mobos... they design fine for laptops but desktops they still are failing... I guess they will learn someday. Maybe with the Z68s
Everything was managed properly when I built this system. Over time, the frequent adding and removing components have led to its current state. I just can't be arsed to spend a whole day taking it apart to manage the cables.
that'll happen. I temd to try to think about what will change when I build a new system from scratch. As a result, you get a clean case- But it tends to have extra connectors poking out here and there. Compromise, I suppose.
