I'm starting this thread up again, because it is possibly the greatest debate of all time. Who would win, a bear versus a gorilla?
I'm talking about two animals, in their prime, who will only follow their primal instincts. If we need to be more specific, lets go with grizzly bear vs mountain gorilla, or polar bear vs silverback gorilla.

Honestly, as much as I want to bet on the Gorilla I think the bear would win due to sheer lethality of its natural weaponry. Gorilla are unfortunately not advanced in tool use overall, especially in weaponry, to make up for the maw and claws of the bear. That and the bear has almost twice the weight of the Gorilla.

(All this presumes that they would have a inescapable reason to fight, if not then my bet would be on the Gorilla frightening off the bear)

mhmmm bear. gorilla are strong. they have teeth. but bears are bigger [i think] they have both teeth and claws, and are no pushovers either.

i think too, that perhaps a bears hide is tougher. but thats just a stray thought.

maybe we can put them together in a cage and see what happens?

Nah, not against a Silverback, those fuckers are STRONG!!! And ruthless. He'd snap a bear in half in a second.

Well a 450lb silverback vs a 1,500lb grizzly. Take your pick, but I'm putting all money on the bear. Bears eat meat, gorillas mostly eat plants and a grown grizzly can kill a moose in one swipe. I honestly don't even think this is able to be debated.

Because they don't have to evolve into humans.

    Da Bears.

If gorillas had other tactics to fight, then they might hold an advantage, but they'll face their opponent head on. Considering that means staring down the snout of a grizzly, with his 2 front claws right there, I'd say the gorilla is going to get his ass kicked.

However, if the gorilla knew Drunken Monkey style, he'd turn that grizzly into teddy ruxpin.
